Last weekend was the start of a jammed packed event season including two Goodguys events on opposite sides of the country as well as the start of Hot Rod Power Tour. There's been several event's leading up to this, but the summer months give people endless options on which events they can attend each weekend. Goodguys Indy has only been around for the last couple years; holding their first event back in 2011. Three years later, the Goodguys All American Nationals in Indianapolis has been a huge success with it's rapidly growing numbers of spectators and participants. The autocross is only one of the many places you can find spectators gathering in large groups. There are plenty of indoor exhibits, display vehicles and even opportunities to go around the track with your vehicle later each day. There was a lot going on in Indy this past weekend and though we were not able to be there, we were able to bring you tons of coverage for this event:

RideTech was at the Goodguys Indy event all weekend, getting some great coverage and sharing on through their Facebook Page. Check out the photos below for a quick recap of the event. Make sure to "LIKE" the RideTech Facebook page (linked below) to keep up-to-date with their latest coverage and event schedule.

Bret Voelkel also had the RideTech '69 Mustang out on the autocross. Here's a quick video of Bret pushing the Mustang around the course:

Another great RideTech video that we couldn’t help but post is this video of Jim McKamey's 900hp twin engine 86 Yugo. It’s a Yugo for crying out loud; how could you not watch it!

Something you do not see too often is aerial footage of a Goodguys Autocross. This became possible at the Goodguys Indy Show last weekend. We do not know anything about the person behind the videos, but we were able to find a YouTube channel aerialEyes, that had a couple aerial videos of cars going around the autocross. We just had to share this footage with you:

This aerial video included coverage over the entire Goodguys Indy Show on Friday. We wish this guy could be at every Goodguys Event!

Dan Kuhn also had some great video footage from his runs in his ’72 Maverick. It’s not every day you get to see a Maverick run on the autocross, plus it was quick! Dan came in top 20 out of 60 people in the Street Machine Class, which was quite an accomplishment. Dan’s videos give a little more perspective on what it is like from inside the car on the autocross:

In the end though, there is only one overall winner for the weekend. Danny Popp in his ’72 Corvette took home first in the Pro Class and swept away the overall competition with a 3 second lead with his fastest time of 63.39. This also puts Danny in 3rd place in the overall points lead within the Pro Class; right behind Kyle Tucker and Brian Hobaugh. The big showdown will take place in November at the Goodguys Scottsdale Event. Here is where the Pro Class will battle for the title of “Goodguys Autocrosser of the Year.” Danny had won the 2013 title at last year’s Scottsdale event. It will be interesting to see what he brings to the table this year in order to keep his title.

If you want to stay up-to-date with the points lead, make sure to view Ed Capen’s post on autocross results for each event: https://www.pro-touring.com/threads/107725-2014-Indianapolis-Nationals-AutoCross-Results
The bottom of each post has a list of the point contenders along with the total points for the year and their ranking. This ranking constantly changes depending on how many points each Pro Driver racks up throughout the weekend. An event missed means points lost for each driver.
