So my car chassis is setup for no return line (sending unit has no return connection either), but my pump has the 1/4" return port nipple. Turns out it was plugged off with what seems to have been a vacuum plug. :scared:

Local auto parts store didn't have anything that would work to plug it off. So I was thinking of teeing the return back into the inlet line. I figure that being the suction side it should be okay.

Anyone tried this before? Or is there a plug that would fit over and be compatible with pump gas?

Engine type might help out here. My thoughts are to ADD a return line. You could possibly use the oem type plastic line.

Agree it would help to know the car/engine, but I would say you need to find a non-return pump.

My '68 originally didn't have a return line, but when I re plumbed I went with a return line from the regulator. I also found a sending unit that had the appropriate fitting. I have always liked the idea of having a place for excess gas pressured lines to dump.
