I'm looking to install an LS1 w/T-56 trans into my '68 firebird with a subframe from a '69 Camaro. I was wondering how much fab and what kind of fab I'm looking at on the trans tunnel? Thanks

The answer depends on what engine mounts and transmission crossmember you intend to use and what kind of engine inclination angle and U-joint working angles you are trying to achieve. If you use the new Hooker engine mounting system and transmission crossmember, you can achieve optimized angles in a bolt-in fashion without needing to cut the tunnel more than what is required to provide a hole for the shifter to stick through the floor. There are a couple of guys on this site using these parts along with the new Hooker headers that were designed with them, so you may want to search for them and send them a PM for their opinion on how the combination worked out for them.

just installed a 6.0/4l80 in a 68 firebird and didn't have to cut anything... used the hooker 12618HKR with the 302-2 pan
