Starting to build my wifes 79 z28
29k one owner.
Her dad bought the car new in 79 drove it till sometime in 82 then parked it behind the house. It sat there until about 94 then he had the car painted. This was finished in 97. It has been sitting in storage since getting about 800 miles on it since 97. The interior is like new.
Being what it is driving it is not fun with a auto and 175hp 350.
The car is black on black with silver stripes. No t tops and ac.
We are going to turn it into a daily driver autocross car.
Will be a 6 speed with a ls either a 5.3 or ls2. Just depends on the price of the ls2
I have Koni shocks for the car.
C6 brakes
Bonspeed 18-8 and 10 gt-b
Mast oil pan
Holley EFI
Plans are for DSE springs and bars
Holley and hooker ls swap parts
Dakota digital dash
Vintage air
Adding pics in a few

Picked up a clean subframe this week.
Good spindles and steering box.

97035
Machined the rotors down to make hubs for the c6 brakes.
Going to clean and blast everything to prep for paint.

Rotors need a clean up pass and some paint on the calipers and abutment brackets.
The Holley efi is a donation from my mustang.

1.75 hours the housing was on the floor.
All the bolts came out with no hammer, wd-40 or heat.
I picked up spring bushings yesterday those are going in the dse 2"drop springs.
Have to get the housing apart and prepped for the brakes. Install the arp studs. Turn the axle flange down to fit inside the rotor. Weld the tubes and have it straightened.
Wheels are going to start production next week.

Waiting on DSE front springs then I will pull the spindles and clean and paint them.
Have to make a run to the local speed shop and pick up the lines for the rear axle.
All the bolt on parts of the rear axle have been blasted and painted. Springs are ready to go in the car.

I hear you. My wife will never sell it. Her dad bought it new.
With the way it was it was no fun to drive the ac didn't work engine was starting to drip on the floor.
I have nothing into the car. Make it something we can drive and have fun with.

Thanks. This weekend it is going to be a little warmer here so I am hoping to spend some time in the shop and get the old booster off and get some measurements for brake lines.
These temps in the teens sucks. I don't have insulation or heat in the shop yet. So some things are going to be on hold till spring

Spent just over a hour on it today. Stock master and booster are off. The two bottom nuts are a pain. Even with the inner fender out still took quite a bit of time 1/8 of a turn at a time.
The new booster will be here on the 18th. Going to change out the line that goes across to the rh side and to the rear. They were all very solid but had surface rust.
Also going to put a shut off valve in the rear line to use as a parking brake for warming up the engine. The kore3 parking brake setup is just a lot of money for what it is.

I got the drivers side mocked up. The front brake lines are done and the rear line is bent up just needs to have the shut off valve installed for the parking brake.
Going to finish the pass side tomorrow
This year I am just bolting all the parts on the car and next winter when I change the engine and trans the car will come completely apart and everything will be blasted and coated or painted. Vintage air going in.

Could you elaborate a little more on this...I'm not understanding what you had to do here.
Also, Is the shut off valve for the parking brake electric or how is it activated?
Thanks

Where the rotor slides over the end of the axle the center of it is the brake pilot. Between the lugs.
Also had to trim the end of the axle down so the center pin would go in with the c clip installed the axle hung into the pin boss by .080 per side.
The valve will be controlled using a rod connected to it coming out where the stock park brake release handle is.

Gotcha, I thought maybe you were referring to something other than sliding the rotor over the axle flange...thanks.
Bummer the axles were too long, but sounds like np for you.
Post some pics of that valve/rod please.
We have the C6 front assembled but still using drum on the rear of my sons '81.

I know why this car is as slow as it is. Weight with me in it is 3975lb. My dads 71 chevelle with a alum ls and vintage air is 3600lb with me in it.
The alum 5.3 and vintage air should take quite a bit of weight out of this thing.
