Just replaced my fuel system 68 Camaro( tank, pump, filters, and refreshed my carb. I was excited when a buddy of my came by and asked me to fire it up! I rush to my trunk to connect my battery cables and walked to the front of the car to lift the hood and I notice the car was smoking(white) from the trunk to the hood. Well, to get to it I connected the battery cables in reverse! I disconnect the cables immediately and inspected my wires. I completely fried my hot wire from alternator to my starter. No other wires seemed affected. I replaced that wire, but now my car won't start. I have power going to my 6AL box, and to my coil' but no spark. I guess it could be my distributor but I not a mechanic. I'm open to ideas before I ship to a repair shop.

At least that is how I remember doing it... figured I would let them speak for themselves since it has been 26 years since I worked there.

By the way, they are pretty fair about repairing them, or at least they used to be when they were privately owned.

You need to follow the 6AL test procedure which will tell you if the 6AL box and coil is OK. The test will NOT tell you if your distributor is bad. If the 6AL test is successful then the problem is probably in your distributor. My 6AL and coil tested good and it turned out the control module in my MSD distributor had failed. But you will not know any of that until you conduct the 6AL test.
