I recently bought custom rims and 18x8 with 4.75bs and I was told that a 255/40/18 would fit so that's what I went with. Mounted everything up this weekend and the front tires rub the inner fenders something fierce! The car has Hotchkiss Suspension so that's has a 1 inch drop and also have a 2inch drop spindle, and has tubular upper and lowers from CPP, So I guess if anyone has any info on this it would be much appreciated. Ordered the rims from Boze and they told me they use the 4.75bs on all there rims they done for chevelle so that's what they made me! just hoping its not the backspacing issue so i guess hope someone can help me and give me some direction what to check or do!

If it's rubbing on the inner fenders, then just space it out until you like where it sits using a wheel spacer. Take your backspacing, subtract the spacer thickness, and that's what you would have needed to order to not have rubbing issues w/o spacers. While there may not be any replacement for displacement, the same could be said for measuring your application for fitment yourself before buying wheels. Too much BS is easy to offset with spacers assuming that solves the issue, whereas too little and you're kinda stuck.

66-67 have very bad wheel wells for big tire and dropped suspension combos. Most we do on a stock wheel well is 245's.

What parts are you rubbing? Back of the wheel well, top inside or top outer? I hate to say it but 3" drop might be too much for your wheel combo. Lets see some pictures.
