Im starting a build thread for my gremlin. I've had the car a long time now and have decided to go more towards the pt route. I was in the process of building more of a drag car but I have since changed my mind to turn it into something more family friendly. It will be a low paced build as I have I typically have very little time to work on it. Here is how the car sits as of now:

Last night I mocked up the passenger side front suspension and brakes. I installed some viking coilovers, lowering plates and 12" Wilwood discs. I still have to reengineer the upper shock mounts. It brought the front end down 4.5" from where it was with the v8 springs that were in the car. Once the front end is situated then the triangulated 4 link will begin. I wanted to establish the front end height to see how far I should go down in the rear.

And don't mind my dungeon of a garage. It's a complete mess.

I've always had a soft spot for the Gremlins and Hornets.
I'm not sure if the soft spot is in my head or heart. Probably a bit of both.:geek:
What are your plans for the suspension?

Thanks everyone. I am running viking coilovers. I had another post about the install. It either needs to get approved yet or I messed up. If it doesn't appear I'll have to try again. Here's how it sits now.

Small update. Got my front wheels today. Did a test fit and they clear everything. Only problem is I have to use a 1/4" spacer since they hit the hub before touching the mounting flange. It pushes them out almost too far for my liking.

Too far? Thats just an excuse to make fender flares!

I like the black spoke polished lip look.

Flare the fenders like we did on the Gremmy we did some work on!

Good to see another one coming along :)

Thanks, i like that look a lot too. I plan on painting the car the same color it is including the black stripe on the hood, so they should accent it perfectly.

I've been studying the pics of how you guys did the gremlin. Especially the rear since that was exactly how I planned on doing mine.

Flaring them has crossed my mind. But I was kind of wanting to not mess with the fenders. I planned on doing the rear wheel arches using an extra set of fenders I have laying around. They don't stick out past the wheel arches so maybe I'm jumping the gun. I think not having tires on yet is throwing me off.

Next I need to source a cheap used pair of 225/40-18 tires to use for mock up. I don't want to buy new right now because they'll probably dry rot before I get this thing on the road.

It's been a long time since I've updated this. My time to work on it is very little during the past 2 years. I recently picked up a donor van for the drivetrain and electronics. I set the 8.8 in and mocked up the rear wheels. As soon as i get back from nc I'm going to start tearing down the van.

Look forward to it. Really like these. Different and cool. In a strange way they remind me of the Lancia deltas.
