I'm considering a new daily driver and I'm leaning toward the STS-v as its slightly bigger and from what I've read, more refined than the 1st gen CTS-v. I would like to start a discussion on the pros and cons of the 06-09 Cadillac STS-v vs. a 06/07 CTS-v. I'm specifically seeking information about long-term reliability and performance as well as maintenance costs between the supercharged 4.4L Northstar in the STS and the N/A 6.0L in the CTS. Please chime in if you have any real-world experience with either vehicle or would just like to share your opinions.

I like my g8 and the l76 is practically a ls2 with DoD. It is a nice daily. I like the first gen ctsv, but I found a low mile g8 for the same price as higher mileage ctsv's. The stsv is cool but hard to find.

Both have come down in price recently, I've found a few examples of each with less than 50k miles for around $20k. I've thought about the G8 as well, but like the features the STS-v offers. I'm really torn. I like the features of the STS-v but am leery of the supercharger in terms of longevity and maintenance. I'd hate to buy a $20K used car and have to replace something major in the first year.

I have also tried to compare the two. I have considered both for my next dd. Hard decision. Whats your daily now?

I totally agree with that. There is something to be said for having a reliable DD. I sold the Forester, I'm now driving an 03 Pontiac Vibe until I find a sweet deal on a STSv. There are a few nice examples on Autotrader, but I think they're way over priced.
