View Full Version : Teenager doing renderings for build project

Hello everyone-
My name is Roman and I'm the son of Ben, whose "Pumkinator" project you may have seen- https://www.pro-touring.com/threads/80582-Pumkinator-A-G-Body-G-Machine-grocery-getter?
I'm 15 and recently I bought a car like my dad's, a '78 Cutlass Cruiser wagon, here's the build thread so far- https://www.pro-touring.com/threads/105097-78-Cutlass-Wagon-quot-CopperTop-quot? The main plan right now is to get it ready to drive to school next year. I'm going to pull the motor and re gasket/ paint it, add a Summit cam, intake, and good exhaust, clean/ detail/ paint the engine bay, buff the old paint, replace worn steering parts, lower the suspension, replace some of the interior, and I need a couple tires. After all that's done I'll be saving for an LS motor swap.
I've also been doing Photoshop renderings to help fund Coppertop. I've done simple things like just changing wheels up to full renderings like the examples below. Let me know what you guys think of my work? :)
Thanks!
-Roman

I'm all about Muscle cars and classic cars but I thought I'd try out something a little different while still staying American and went with doing a Cobalt. I like to photoshop any type of car, whether it be a new car, an import, or an old hot rod. :)

Roman,
What is the process for getting a rendering done?
What I'm looking for is something similar to the project 1/2-Trak rendering only in yellow and black just for comparison purposes to decide on paint. One yellow over black and one black over yellow as well as one that's a slight modification of my current paint scheme.
Thanks,
Jim

Very nicely done. The F150 looks great. I have a 1972 Monte Carlo that I would like to see how a set of wheels would look on it. Wheels are Intro Raider/with Rivets, 18x8 Front & 18x10 Rear.
Thanks in advance,

Here's some quick work I did on my own car!
Here is the first picture I worked on, this is the unedited picture.
104223
And here it is after being chopped. This one was pretty simple and only took a few minutes. I put the carbon fiber hood on there to see how it would look on the car because in the future, I'd really like to get either a fiberglass or Carbon fiber hood with a cowl both for good looks and weight reduction. Any opinions? :)
104224
Here is the second rendering. I did a bit more work on this one.
Here is the original photo:
104225
And here's the final picture:
104226
I did a lot more work on this one than I did on the first. I straightened out the body, cleaned up dirt and basically cleaned it all up. Then I lowered it to get an idea of what it will look like when we put the lowered suspension in it. I love it! Also I tinted the windows and put a completely different background on the picture to finish it all up.
Thanks for checkin' it out!

Love the work. On your car. If it were me I would black out the pillars as well. Also if you are going with carbon fiber maybe you could do a custom CF side mirror as well. On the hood maybe you could continue the cowl onto the header panel. Just trying to picture it in my mind. Might look cool with the carbon fiber on there. If I did that I would round off the front edges of it at the front of the cowl and curve it in to where it comes to a bit of a point in the center. Make it a little different than a normal cowl. Awesome ideas and build so far. These are just my suggestions. You can take them or leave them just thought I would share I always love to hear others ideas myself.

Thanks!!
I never thought about doing CF mirrors.. Now I'm wondering how that might look lol. I'm for sure putting black mirrors on it. We're gonna get rid of my Grandma mirror that's only on the one side and replace it with bullet type black mirrors that are actually currently on my dad's car. But I'll definitely think about that Carbon fiber mirror idea, that might actually look pretty dang bad!
That extended cowl might also look pretty bad.. I think I could maybe see that! :)
Maybe something like this?
With this right here, I've been thinking about getting diamond-cut headlights and my dad and I have tossed around the idea of putting driving lights somewhere in the bumper since we got the car so I included that. Added that and the extended cowl. I kind of like it actually!
104306
Thanks again! And also, thanks for all the suggestions, I actually do really appreciate others opinions and ideas. I'm definitely considering those! :)

I wish I had my design program here and I would show you what I was thinking for the hood. I like that look too though. I love the driving lights. Here is an example of the mirror I was thinking of.

Finished another rendering! This one is a '72 Monte Carlo, and is little different from my other renderings. For this one I did a few styles of wheels, and then put them on the car and lowered it. I liked doing this one because it was a little different than what I've done before, with doing custom wheels separate from the car. Lots of fun!
Completely unedited wheel:

So updates a few years later... My car got some real progress done to it. Had an LQ4 6.0 motor with some Texas speed goodies ready to drop into the engine bay. Had BRAND spankin' new wheels and tires on it. Put all the money I made from doing these renderings as well as probably 98% of my regular paychecks into this thing trying to build it to the potential I saw in it.
139228
Not long after getting these new wheels and tires on, an old lady decided that she felt like pulling out right in front of me on my way to work one day. I tried to swerve around her and she ended up hitting my fender, boucning off and smashing my quarter panel, and then ended facing backwards on the opposite side of the road. She sent my car over the curb which destroyed all 4 wheels and tires. Unfortunately there is frame damage where she hit the front. The overall wheelbase on the passenger side has been shortened by 3 inches. Not a happy day.
139229
139230
It has been extremely disappointing to me because I have been putting all my money into this car for over 3 years and it never even got to be close to what I wanted it to be. After all this however, I have decided to rebuild the car. There's just too much sentimental value and overall I love this thing.
So as you can probably imagine, It's going to be a highly extensive as well as incredibly expensive rebuild. So, I would like to revive this thread and make it known that I am going to be doing renderings once again as a way to help fund this rebuild!
Please feel free to either message me on here or email me at
[email protected] and I would love to work on some renderings for you guys.
