What are your thoughts on WHITE? I am really leaning towards painting my 68 Camaro white. I do not see a lot of pro touring style Camaros in white and it makes me think there has to be a reason for that. It does not help that my wife is also opposed to white. But the vision in head with the right stance and wheels, I think a clean white would look awesome. I do not want pearl or metallic white just a clean white with full polished modern either forgeline or formula 43 wheels or grey center and polished outers and a SS hood what do you guys think?

something like this but WHITE

This isn't meant to sound rude....but it will make the point......What does it matter what I, or anyone else, thinks??

You will be MUCH better served by following YOUR dream for the car instead of a mix of a thousand other people's opinions. If you already know in your head what it should look like when it's done ---follow that dream. Didnt you start this project anyway bacause no one makes a car like you think it should be made? (My reason at least)

White looks great especially with a dark color wheel. If it's what you want, go for it and ignore the refrigerator comments.

I agree. Go with what you want, not what others say or do. BUT you may want to listen to your wife... Just sayin'

Get someone to photoshop that picture in the color and style of wheels you want and see if its going to be what you hoped for. Besides, a picture is a lot less money than painting it and finding out you didn't like it.

I think that's Reckley's (sp) car? If so it's Lambo Silver.

Paul - paint the car white and quit asking. Wheel color is a much better question - gold or bronze if you ask me.

Here's my 69 in white. It's plain ol' GM Olympic white from PPG. Hopefully I can swing some Forgelines this summer.

Paint color is one of the hardest decision most guys make on a build and nothing wrong at all with asking guys what they think. But what counts most is when you pull the car cover off that baby needs to knock YOUR socks off! Go with your gut and you will love it.

My69 was white for 19 of the 20 years ive owned it. I like it, but time for a change to dark blue. Go white, you'll like it.

I'm a little biased, but....

People either love it or think its too plain. Mine is GM summit white.

White cars look clean all the time. If you have a straight car it makes it even better. It hides scratches and any imperfections in the paint. Also white looks insane with black wheel! Go with what you like!!

I have a white car, I was told that white doesn't photograph well and many magazines don't like to shoot white cars..by a magazine guy.....but screw that I still dig it

I also like white. What about getting the car wrapped in white? If you don't like it after a while, do something different.

I say go for it. White is a great color, even better when you contrast it with some dark rims and trim. Im not a fan of chrome or polished but to each his own. I would love to ditch my chrome bumpers and door handles, everything else on my silver car is brushed.

White is just cool--it was the ****e in BMX bikes in the '80s, and it's stuck with me since. It was also RUN DMC, K-Swiss, Pony, and some other stuff in the
'80s; I'm not sure what else there is. I have a white mountain bike (the On-One Inbred, which originally only came in white), a white Ford F250, and a white Falcon. Granted, neither the Falcon nor the truck were white because I chose the colors, but I do like white as a paint color... It's mostly the BMX bike thing from my childhood, I think...

For an awesome white car, search for the Chevelle Grand Sport. It is inarguably one of, if not the coolest Chevelle out there, especially when you see it in person (pushing it around at Laguna Seca helps)...

I'm wrapping my (already white) car in a white pearl until I get a real job and can spring for the $8k paint/ body work. Of course what I'm doing should in no way affect what you are doing.

if you're doing this temporarily, why dont you plasti-dip your car? it'll be at least ~1/6th the price

not white, but results were impressive:

I love white. There was a video a while back on Youtube of some guys flogging the crap out of white 69 with Alien Ant Farm as the soundtrack and it made me want a white 69 to beat on.

I'm going to do the wrapping myself, and since most of the cost of wrapping is the labor it won't be that bad. From a materials standpoint the costs of wrap vs. dip are about the same for me (my compressor isn't up to the task of spraying a car). I've actually tried plastidipping my trunk, there are some pics of a quick job laying out stripes toward the end of my build thread. Plasti dip is cool stuff and I use it on other cars, but I really want that shiny pearl glisten and it just isn't there yet.

I saw this white '69 at a cars n coffee this morning. It just came out of paint a few weeks ago, there's a little blue in the pearl, and what the camera didn't capture was the ghosted Z stripes which were done with bigger flakes. Nice car, and the owner was cool too.

White also stays cool in the sun and helps hide imperfect bodywork. Dark colors on repainted cars tend to do strange things when they get hot in the sun.

If you do white, I like the de-chromed look.

Generally my vehicles are black, but when i saw that Firebird in white, it looked stunning! I get so many compliments and thumbs up on my car its unreal! I had a tough time deciding wheels, I think because it was white. I considered the darker look, like black or graphite, both great looks. But I decided the brushed metal complimented the white paint, and the polished lip complimented the chrome trim on the car. I really didn't want too shiny like chrome. They are Torq thrusts from American Racings custom shop. Took a couple months to make the 2 piece custom brushed finish but i love the end result!
