Hello.

Fantastic forum here... I really like the place.

I'm a Master Tech for Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge, Viper certified, Crossfire certified, all around gear head.

My ride is a '78 Chevy Monza which has a 500hp 358 (old NASCAR stuff) a T-56 trans from a Viper, and a 9". 4 wheel disk and custom suspension round out the car.

I built the car to be driven, so it's one of the few H-bodys that isn't tubbed. Don't let the slicks fool you, this car will turn and stop better then most Mustangs. (stock)

The engine is currently wounded so I'm exploring either forced induction and/or a LSx swap. An LS7 would be ideal, but big $$!

Howdy... Durham NC here... good to see another Carolinian in the house.

where do you race at? Don't think I've seen your car before. I frequent Fayetteville Dragway.

Glad to have you, Scott.

Do me a favor though, please - we're trying to keep sig pics to a maximum of 250x75; yours is quite a bit larger than that. Could you resize it down some? If needed, post up in the Multimedia forum and someone will happily resize for you.

Okay, I'll knock the pic down...

I usually run at Shadyside in Shelby, but I occasionally visit Moorseville as well. I try my hand every so often at the footbrake nights, but I'm more of a test -n- tune runner.

Welcome to the forum Scott. From my experiences here in the forum if you have a question someone here can answer it.

1/8 mile best is a 7.64 at 93 mph. this works out to low/mid 11's in the quarter. Which would be my only pass if I went to a 1/4 track, as a cage is needed below 12's if I'm not mistaken. Anyone know of a horsepower calculator that works on 1/8 mile? The engine recipe I followed puts me at/near 500 hp, but I really don't know for sure, as the engine decided to eat the cam a week before chassis dyno day.

As of '05, NHRA doesn't require a cage until 11.49. I believe under 11.49 and you need a 6pt(?).

If you race the 1/4 mile at Fayetteville, there is basically no tech inspection anyway. If it rolls, you can run it down the track :). The downside of that is when some redneck-mobile self destructs and they spend half the afternoon cleaning up the mess.
Rockingham is a little more picky, but not much.

Rockingham is also IHRA. I don't know if the same rules apply.
