Well Now that I've got all of the sheetmetal work on my '69 bird done we got down to starting the paint for it.

My father and I removed the doors and primed the jams of both the doors and on the car. We also got filler on the back section of the car, but have yet do begin sanding at this point.

The color is somewhat hard to see in these pictures but it is black with red/blue and green pearl in it. When you get it out in the sun it looks amazing.

I'm hoping that next weekend I can get all the body filler and sanding done and have the car ready for primer. I'm waiting on my American Graffiti AC delete box before I can mount the passanger side fender though.

Here are the pics.

just a fyi, sanding the body filler within 30 mins of application will greatly reduce effort in sanding it, also another good trick is too rough it in with 36 on the first coat then apply 2nd coat and use 80 grit .
is that only base applied on the door jambs?
what materials are you using

Well we had a bit of problem with the filler. It's been about 24 hours now and it still hasn't set up. My father got some all metal filler and apparently the hardner/activator that was given to him was not the correct stuff. We'll likely have to remove the filler on there once we get the correct hardener for the filler.

I wa kind of bummed about that. I was planning on doing much of the filler prepping and sanding this week after work, but I'll need to wait until the weekend now...

The jams have both base and clear on them. When I took the photos it was very dark in the garage so the color didn't show up that well.

As far as materials, for the jams we used Dupont ChromaBase 2 stage. The color is a standard Toyota color, so we'll probably shoot PPG for the rest of the car since my father's company has an account through PPG.
