I have a 1966 skylark with a turbocharged Buick nailhead and I am getting some bad wheel hop. I run a rear sway bar, umi upper and lower tubular control arms.. non adjustable upper but might weld up some heim joints in the uppers. everything is new (all bushings)with summit 3 way adjustable shocks and ridetech cool ride bags. I am wondering if I am just battling pinion angle issues. I am running the tires at 30psi.. to hard? I am running a Quickperformance 9 inch rear with a Detroit locker and 3:55 gears
Thanks in advance
Paul
Wheel hop is commonly caused by a couple of things...
1. Soft shocks, especially on the rebound side. If your shocks are adjustable try a stiffer setting. I don't know anything about the summit brand adjustables to be able to tell you how they react
2. With many 4 links (especially the GM oem system with its short upper arms) too high of ride height will cause an "instant center"that is way too far to the rear, sometimes ending up behind the rear axle. This will induce violent wheel hop. Look under you car at your selected ride height...if the upper bars are higher at the front than they are at the rear...that's bad. Lower the car by letting air out of the airsprings. This will lower the front of the upper bars to allow a more appropriate instant center. If your tires hit whem you lower the car, buy new tires. If your wheel fitment is wrong, buy new wheels. Allowing the wheel hop to continue will break parts eventually.

Bret, thank you for your fast response. I just started putting miles on the car since I have finished it. just hit about 100 miles. A 70/30 , 50/50 and a 40/60 are the available valving setting I have. I am not sure which setting I am on and have to check. Do I want my upper rear control arm ideally to be parralle with the ground? what is the pinion angle I should be tring to achieve? Thank you
Paul
