This 02 Silverado 2500HD 2 wheel drive has the 6.0 L Vortec 3rd gen LQ4 engine and the 4L85e transmission (stronger than the 4L80e by GM but the same casing), 8 lug wheels, etc that the regular 2500's didn't always have. BUT...this is a work truck. The body is pretty beat up. It was owned by a concrete company since new, if that gives you any idea. Interior isn't that great either, but the AC does work.
It DOES run very well though, nicely enough that I thought about just dropping the engine/trans in my 69/72 vette convertible. 220,000 miles, but I was told that they put in a Jasper crate engine 40,000 miles ago. I don't have any paperwork to prove it though. It doesn't look it, but then again, 40,000 miles in a construction truck could get even a new engine miserably filthy so who knows. The more I think about it the more I realize that I need to hold off on more projects for now.
If you need a strong truck that can tow/haul this might be it. If you want pretty its not. But Book value is $7865 clean cond, $3175 rough trade in. If you are a patient person pull the powertrain, sell the 14 bolt rear for $500, wheels/tires for $150, exhaust is good, radiator and whatever else is good, then scrap the rest for $400.
If you plan to use the truck it IS throwing a lean condition on a couple of cylinders which auto zone told me is the mass air flow sensor. I'm listing it here in parts because I think most people will want it as a donor for an LS swap, but I do have title for it and it is usable. This is probably more desirable than the 1500 trucks because they only came with the 4L60 transmissions. These 2500HD trucks are usually hard to find and priced higher. Even the regular 2500 trucks aren't easy to locate.
