Steve and his wife were in Orlando this week. Last night we got him out to Old town. Old town is a 400+ car cruise every Saturday night. For the most part, Old Town brings out Old timers. Lots of retro through backs. I do not hang out there to often, the relentless 50s beboop music is enough to make me postal, but it something you should see when you condo is 2 miles away.
Steve was amazed at some of the wheels he was seeing. But nothing stopped us in our tracks like this 4 X 4 stance Malibu convertible, with 18s. There had to be 5 inches of clearance on the front tires, hence the WTF pose.
Anyway, Steve was able to see the ProTouing movement has not quite made it to east coast yet, as evidenced by this fine example.
We did have some fun racing some compressed air powered drag cars. They are wicked fast, like 110MPH in 300' in 2 seconds. Pulls a bunch of Gs, both positive and negative. It was expensive, but probably worth it.
Oh yeah, super nice guy in person, and the wife is just a sweetheart.

Good stuff! But you guys didn't hear? That Malibu is built in the newest build style to emerge: Pro-Tourbyfouring. Big rims, and you can still mud it on the way home! :lmao: I should be one to talk, though. My '01 needs to be lowered.

Come on guys, that was a lowrider. It was just in the up position, I am sure if you waited around long enough the car would have jumped up and down a few times.

I've been to the old town meeting 5 years ago when I was on holiday in FL....(stayed in the motel6 across the road)...
We were going to go to seaworld when I saw some rods on the other side of the street....my wife felt sick (cause she was just pregnant of our first) I thought "screw the orca", forget seaworld, sent my wife to bed to get some sleep and get better and I went to see the meeting :naughty:

Those air powered drag cars are sick. When my car club was down there we played with thoses for like two hours.

My street racer will go 119MPH in the 1/8th, 660 feet, and that is damn fast. These do 110 or so in half the distance. It surprised me. They say it is equal to a 240MPH pass. Of coarse they are on rails, so you do not have all the issues of keeping the car in the middle of the lane like a real car. But I do suggest it for everyone.
The wives were also able to ride, which was very cool.

I'm glad you're showing the west coast guys a good time! The east coast will catch up slowly, but having lived in Florida for a lot of years I know it has always been a mixed bag, so its no good as a metric for much of anything. Anyway, sounds like Old Town has really grown since I last visited 10 years ago, and it was pretty decent sized then. Maybe next time I'm in Tampa I can drive over and experience it again.

<-- yep, funny looking! lol
Had a great time meeting you Frank and your very nice (and good looking wife Lisa).. Too bad I blew the second race by red lighting, I had the MPH on you and was looking for a win. Those damn cars really MOVE OUT.. my wife was screeming all the way down the track.. lol
Was cool to check out the local rides, I have never seen so many "old school" wheels in one place. 15" slot mags are still the rage in FL I guess.. ;)

Can I just ask a question? What the hell are you guys doing in that picture? It looks like your rehearsing a dance seen from Guys and Dolls.

Yea, when I found out she does 200 sit-ups a day and liked cars I had to marry her :)
Not only is she better looking than I but with two masters degrees smarter as well, even if she didn't know what a power brake booster was.. lol

It was his idea.. I think we are supposed to be conveying the attitude of "what the Fu__k?!?!?"
