I recently joined to learn more about AutoX and road racing. I have just started in both events and am hooked! I have a '78 Trans Am with a mildly built Pontiac 400 for my hobby/fun car, this car is all factory and until now has just been a show car with a few sprints down the drag strip. I'm slowly putting parts in it to make it handle better so I can get the power I have to the ground.

My other car is a 2002 Pontiac Firehawk with an LS1, T56 and 1LE. This is my DD but it's also fun to take out on the weekend and go through the cones or around the track. It's a bit faster than the '78 and corners better but, it's still my driver and I have to get to work if I want to pay for the parts I want next, or that I broke during the weekend fun.

I'm focused on using what I have now and getting seat time and listening to what the more experienced drivers suggest. It's all fun!

Great to see another person from DFW on here. I'm in Plano, work in Richardson, and my car is in the paint booth in Wylie.

You will see me in one or the other cars. My son and I set and reset the cones at the recent USCA event you were in,it was a lot of fun watching you run thru. Look forward to seeing you again.

I really like those wheels! I am changing the factory stock 15x8 snowflakes to something more like this. I would like to end up with a 18" wheel, 275/40 for the contact patch and diameter. I'm having a very hard time finding a wheel that fits my 78 in terms of offset/backspace... I'm coming to the conclusion that I will need to use spacers. Where are you finding your spacers? And where are you finding good wheels that don't break the bank?

No spacer in the front. I will have some made for the rear. These are aftermarket wheels for a late model Mustang. 2014 fitment in the front, 2004 fitment in the rear. 4.5" bolt circle only as far as I know.

Greg, welcome to the forums. Glad to see you decided to join. Can't wait to get out to a couple of events with you. And Dusold...and Chris...and...you see where this is going!

We need to promote that the North TX Camaro Club is hosting an Auto-x in Mesquite on May 31st. Any of the PT.com members are invited. Let Greg or me know if you are interested in participating. We probably should start a thread for the event.
