Just thought I'd share my new toy. I wanted a pickup to move stuff, make Home Depot trips, etc. Sure, a 90's Toyota would have done the job for the same price, but what fun is that? I found this International on craigslist and picked it up for cheap. It's a 1974 International 100 shortbed. 1/2 ton chassis, 6.5' shortbed, AMC 258 straight six, 727 torqueflite transmission, power brakes w/front discs. The previous owner put a 10 foot satin black paintjob, which is adequate for what it is. I can't find a lick of rust on this thing.

The 258 runs fine but it's tired with almost 200k miles on it. I found a '92 Jeep 4.6 stroker with less than 500 miles on it. I'm planning to swap the engine in with an AW4 4-speed overdrive transmission. The stroker included a stock electronic fuel injection, wiring harness, and computer. I should go from ~115HP stock to about 270HP and probably better fuel mileage in the end.

Nice Craigslist find. Looks like a cool project. Any other plans in-store for it after the motor swap?

I convinced my wife this isn't another project. :ssst: I'd like to drop it a few inches but nothing too radical. Rebuild the steering and swap in a power steering box. The biggest issue is parts are almost non-existent for this vehicle. IH only sold 6,000 trucks between 73-75 and many parts aren't shared between those 3 years. Not much mechanical is shared with the Scout, either. I have all the bracketry for the A/C compressor, so I may consider an under-dash A/C unit. I'm also putting in a Fox body 3-core aluminum radiator with dual electric fans. They don't make radiators for this thing anymore! Half the fun of this thing is trying to find parts from other vehicles that can be used. Currently, I'm trying to sort out lower ball joints.
