Thinking of starting a 1st Gen Camaro project while being pragmatic knowing that one day I may need to sell it. Hence, I like to get opinions on resale difficulties if the car started as a factory 6 cylinder vs factory 8 cylinder. I have seen many ads, even the ones on this site, indicate such info that the car was a factory V8 or that it is a true SS (which points out at the very least that it was a factory V8), true RS, or true SS/RS and so on. At the same time I have seen interested buyers asking for cowl tag info and VIN# to get at the same info. It seems that those factors play an important part if purchasing a restored original condition classic car with matching #s and all, but when building a pro touring so much is changed that all the above should not matter. However, it seems what the car started as has some relevance, even in pro touring, in their ability to resale. Hence, I like to hear opinions and *especially* real life experiences regarding this topic.

Honestly with a 69 Camaro it always has good resale value if your going to keep It original a stock rs z28 would fetch premium.that being said a v6 Camaro that has had an ls installed and all the pro touring goodies would also fetch a premium, there are two markets either way it'll have good resale

I am a "#'s matching '69 Camaro car-show-guy" recently TRANSFORMED to a ProTour-guy; what a great transformation!.

If you are contemplating a '69 Camaro ProTour project, you want to acquire a solid base model car which are available at reasonable prices. Once you start looking at SS or Z/28 cars, you will be paying premium dollars the you will not recoup. On the trim tag you want to locate either a VIN starting in 12337 (denotes a 6-cyl.) or 12437 (V-8) with either an X-11 (base car w/style trim group) or X-44 (base car) code. All of this information is located on the TRIM TAG located above and left of the master cylinder. All other X-codes are either SS350, SS396 or Z/28 cars which will draw higher prices simply based on their origination from the factory.

Hope this information is of help...and good luck with your quest.
