Selling my '71 Torino GT. $17,900

http://fredericksburg.craigslist.org/cto/4417077626.html

This is an original Virginia car. I purchased the car from Carlisle at Ford Nationals off of a guy that had just bought it himself. He purchased the car from a woman here in Virginia that inherited the car from her mother. Her mother was the original owner of the car and it was originally purchased in Virginia.

Original GT "M" code 351C 4v car still has the original motor and original C6 trans.
Just over 45,000 original miles.

The paint job on the car was a respray done by the original owner. It was a budget respray and is showing typical signs of wear. If you look closely you can see some alligatoring of the paint on one of the fenders. It is a good driver quality paint job but not a "show car" paint job.

Since I've had the car I have done the following:

I changed the interior from the original Ivy Green to black.
Got rid of the original bench seat and installed Procar Elite Lumbar bucket seats and recovered the back seat.
The originial dash pad was cracked so I installed a black cover-lay over it.
Installed new ACC cut pile carpet with Mass Back.
Custom center console for the car with two Autometer gauges (the gauges have not been hooked up yet).
I swapped out the old radio and installed a new Retrosound radio.
I pulled the motor and trans, cleaned and resprayed the engine bay and cleaned up the motor.
Installed a new Edelbrock Performer intake.
Holley Street Avenger 670cfm carb.
New MSD Ready-to-Run distributor.
New MSD wires.
New MSD Coil.
Aluminum valve covers and air cleaner.
Chrome oil pan.
Chrome water pump.
Chrome alternator.
New fuel pump.
Five spoke Ridler wheels (18x8 front and 20x8.5 rear).
New Waldron's 2.5" exhaust system.
New Pypes Performance mufflers.
New power steering control valve.
New power steering pump and hoses.
New power steering ram arm.
New inner and outer tie rods, strut rod bushings and idler arm bushings.

The car originally had manual front drum brakes. I upgraded the brakes to stock style front power disc with '70 Torino spindles.
New refurbished brake booster.
New master cylinder.
New hard and soft brake lines for the font, and refurbished proportioning valve.

I cut 1/2 coil off of each coil spring to lower the front end slightly.

New chrome trans pan.
New rear trans seal.
New front and rear u-joints.

There are some minor dings on certain areas of the car but nothing major, just cosmetic.

$16,000 OBO. Will entertain offers. I love the car but just don't have the time. Car needs to go to a new home where she will be driven and enjoyed instead of just parked.

Do you have the original seats? Any patch panels or non-oem sheetmetal? Any rust or oxidation at all? I keep coming back to contemplate this car...Thank you.

No patch panels. The original interior was Ivy Green with a bench seat. I no longer have the original bench seat but did swipe what was left from the original build sheet before I let the seat go.

The car is about as original as it can be as far as sheet metal is concerned. Here are some more pics. Before installing the new carpet I painted the floor (and trunk as well) in POR 15. It is the original floor pans and there was some surface rust, as to be expected.

I'll PM you with my email address so you can get a hold of me quicker if you are really interested.

Thanks. I want to be fair to the buyer and to me. I'm not in a position where I absolutely have to sell the car, so even though I will be reasonable, I won't give the car away. I'll keep it if that is the case. But keeping in mind the condition of the car and the work that is left that I'd do to it, $16,000 is a fair price and leaves the next owner with the ability to not be buried in the car, and get a nice solid original sheet metal car. It just kills me to see it do nothing but sit. I've only driving the car twice so far since the beginning of April, and the farthest trip was 30 miles round trip.

Come on down. You won't be disappointed. You honestly will be hard pressed to find a Torino this solid that has lived it's entire life in VA.

I don't know why it hasn't sold yet either. I've only had three inquiries in the past month and they all want to know if I'll trade. I thought for sure I'd have more action on it.

Ha maybe you will be like me.... I listed my 66 Nova (a nice finished car like yours) for 25K. The only pm's I got were loballers. I decided to keep it and glad I did. It would have been a mistake. This weekend a guy offered me 35K and I turned it down. Once its gone its gone and hard to find another one like it as nice!
Good Luck
Tom

No, I need to let this car go. I own a townhouse, so I keep the car garaged at my parent's house. They are getting older in age and thinking about selling their place to downsize so I will loose my garage. Also I just don't have the time between wife, kids, work, etc. to work on it or drive it. The car will just waste away if I keep it.

I may have to start listing it on other sites (AutoTrader, Hemmings, etc.) but was avoiding that due to all of the scammers that I dealt with in the past after listing on other sites. I just never imagined that it would still be available after almost two months.
