1st gen Camaro - pitman arm ball stud - no cotter keyway?

I picked up a nice, used manual box from a 69 camaro for my 68 camaro, and it was from an old buddy that only does 1st gen camaro parts.
The ball stud off the pitman arm does not have a hole for a cotter key.

Have you seen this, and other than thread locking, what else can I do for safety?

Some Nova arms were like that, we used a nylock nut and torqued to spec.

I like stover nuts for things like that. It has a distorted thread at the top that is very secure, and is heat resistant.
