Intro Wheels?

I am having a heated discussion with a friend concerning Intro wheels. He works at Les Schwab and says he has never heard of them and that he doubts that they are a quality product. So...I am asking for more information about the company so I can properly shove his foot in his mouth. Are they a good product? Good company?etc. Thanks for the help again - Garrett.

Intro Wheels is an excellent company, high quality wheels. In fact of the non 3-piece builders they are one of the best.

I have an account with Les Schwab....were not dealing with "high quality" here. I have to special order anything that the local Walmart wouldn't normally carry in stock and only after arguing that Michelin does in fact make a 285/55R18...I have 2 trucks with them.

Les Schwab is a Walmart or K-mart tire center with a high attention to customer service, the products they carry are mediocre at best, we get some tires there only out of desperation and they usually get replaced quickly.

Thanks for the info, in fact, it is my dads friend who is debating with me. He is the owner of our local store. I just read this previous post to my dad and he got a little angered(he agree with whatever our friend thinks). I just laughed.:rolleyes5 He went on to ask me, to ask all of you, to compare two campanies, Intro Wheels and Billet Specialties(Les Schwab carries Billet Specialties and that is who our friend is pushing). And he also wanted to know why a multi-peice wheel is better than a single peice. From what i can tell from reading on this board that multi peice wheels are the most desireable. Why? Even our friend dislikes a multi-peice wheel saying that they are not as strong. I have VERY little knowledge about wheels and tires so the way i learn is from all of you. I am also having a lot of fun raising my dads blood pressure.:evil: Keep up the good info! Thanks again.

I worked for Discount Tire Co. for 9ys. For the longest time Billet Specialties was regarded as one of the highest quality manufactors of aftermaket wheels. IMHO there several new companies like Intro tha have surpassed them with new innovative designs. Just because a product has not been around since the stone age does not mean they are not high quality. Two of the cars listed in Intros website belong to customers of mine and when I decide which style I want I will be running them on my sled.

p.s. the 2 cars that I detail are the orange 72 vette, and the navy blue chevy II on the Intro website

I know someone that had Intro wheels on his Monte SS. They make a very high quality product!

Thanks guys:), but, why a multi peice instead of a single and what material does Intro use in their wheels(what kind of aluminium?)? I thought there was an Intro dealer on this board? Maybe he can help?

I think the chief advanatges of three piece rims is that they can be built in just about any width and backspacing, plus they are typically lighter weight.

And they can be re-hooped if damaged or in need of a backspacing change. Light Weight is one of the biggest things, though.

Intro makes a very very very quality wheel! all companies use pretty much the same aluminum! I belive BS has higher line of wheels(Profile Series I think) that are a higher grade of auminum but other than that they all use the same stuff! Lets not get confused with a billet two piece(Intro, Billet Specialties, Boyds and the such) to forged three piece wheels(Fikse, Kinesis and Iforged(Intro's forged rim)).

Intro does make a very nice wheel though. They were the way I was going to go before I decided on the Fikse's.

I can field this question I supposed. :D A lot of the billet wheel companies, including ourselves, use the same billet pieces. However, a lot of the quality upgrades we do come from the prepping and cutting techniques, as well as the way everything is polished and assembled. Anyway, I believe very highly in our product and I believe we are one of the best.

Another thing I feel I should say is that the material used for 2-piece and 3-piece wheels are one in the same. The only difference is that 3-piece wheels are bolted together, where 2-piece wheels are welded together. Also, the hoops are a little different, but the quality in the center, or the design piece, is all the same.

That is the first I have heard of water being an issue.....I have a set of boyds on my daily driver truck, mine get water in them while I'm driving All wheel companies (budnik, billet specialties, colorado customs, Dpengineering, etc, etc,) use the same basic wheel hoop! They will all hold a small amount of water.......! the hoop has a ridge at the back of it, that combined with the the center of the wheel will allow some water to set in the wheel!

I had Intros on my '69, its the red one shown on their website. The wheels are top-notch, and I got plenty of compliments on them.

I just read all that. You guys need to understand that has nothing to do with Intro is to do with people wanting what is basicly a reverse wheel. If you want a smaller center go with the step lip and this can't occure.
I have owned 2 sets of Billet Specialties and one set of Intro all with reverse lips. They all collected water but never it I have a balance issue.
I would easily run another set of either brand wheels again. Both top notch products.
