I'm currently in the process of finding an older car with an LS1 swap and I want some opinions on this one ... (this is an old ad and the car sold last yr).

Check out the photos and let me know some things you might change ...

here are my thoughts ...
1. the couple of paint flaws, don't really bother me that much.
2. I hate that the air filter is in front of the radiator.
3. The exhaust is all junk, it hangs to low and there are some questionable flex pipes in it.
4. I would want to put some valve cover, covers on it, but the brake booster looks like it is in the way.
5. drum rear brakes.
6. Surface rust on the frame ....

your thoughts?

I would take the vinyl top off and have it painted underneath.
The wires under the hood on the passenger side would cover em with wire conduit.
The tailpipes look funny to me, looking at them from the back.
I would add some floor mats.
Change the air intake.

Mostly I would just make it more fun to drive, like decent suspension and brakes. And some nice corbeau seats or at least something with a head rest, so your neck will be better off in a wreck. The low back buckets do look good though.

The air filter in front of radiator bothers me most, though its the simplest to fix.
I'd check every single aspect of the swap over, since there could be a lot of other shortcuts.
As bad as the exhaust looks from underneath, if it breathes ok , it could wait till later.
Rest is up to your budget & tastes.

i would change the air intake, the way the exhaust comes out, the dash back to stock, and detail the under hood of the car. Drums brakes in the rear are fine unless you're autocrossing

Exhaust is weird but not dysfunctional. Would not take much to clean it up at some point.

Drum brakes are no problem at all for autocross. I've run many many passes with drums in 65 to 70 Mustangs and they do fine. Doesn't feel as nice as discs but very little if any difference in performance. HPDE day is very different story but not autox.

+1 for covering the plug wires. IMO they need more protection with the nearness to the headers.

I kind of like the vinyl top. It would not work on red with white stripes but on this color with the chrome wheels and small tires it's classy.

Doesn't look like a very big fan on the radiator. Maybe there is 2 so it works but it looks tiny. I have a single 16" on mine after the 2 11" did not move enough air.

I would add A/C for sure.

+1 on the seats. The low backs look very nice but I would not be comfortable driving the car with them. Not safe at all.

The only show stopper I see is the air cleaner. No question that is a disaster.

Overall it looks like a nice car that would be a lot of fun.
