So I just installed some C5 calipers on the front and was wondering if the factory M/C will work them? I took the car out for it's "maiden" voyage tonight and it seemed like it took some effort to get it to stop. I do have power brakes on it, and originally it had disk on the front.

Any suggestions?

Reduce the bore size of your master cylinder from 1-1/8" to 1" or 15/16". Quick way to reduce your pedal effort by 22% to 33% respectively, give or take.

Curious, any recommendations on a particular master? Maybe something from GM?

I'd go with a 15/16" bore MC. You can get them inexpensively at almost any auto parts store. Look up 1977 Malibu with 6 cylinder engine and manual brakes. It will have a deep hole in the back of the piston and have a rod. The rod will have to be modified to work with the older style clevis connection. No big deal...

If you want to go with a 1" bore, then look at C3 Corvette.

Edit....I misread your post. I thought you were going with manual brakes...The above MCs are for manual brakes...LOL

Maybe someone else can suggest MCs for power brakes.

Looks like a 1979 Malibu MC will work. WAGNER MC101253

I like the plastic reservoirs.

For a 1" bore M/C, can use a stock 4-wheel drum M/C. Most likely would be a direct bolt in.
