So I sprayed primer filler over my firewall project and block sanded it down. I noticed I have two low spots; too low for the primer filler to fix, but just barely. its about .010 of an inch. Should I use filler, glaze, or do I have bring it back down to bare metal and start over? I don't mind the extra work, I would rather have it come out right, but I am stupid when it comes to all things auto body related. One last question, what do you recommend to use for the topcoat I am going to paint the firewall satin black. Would black base-coat and satin clear be the most durable? Thanks in advance.

I would just use body filler over the primer. If the primer is over bare metal and you used a good etching primer you shouldn't have a problem with the filler. the glaze is for very small scratches and holes. That being said .01 of an inch is probably ok to use the glaze too.
Just make sure you use good quality 2-part glaze filler. Don't use the the 3m stuff that you don't have to add hardener to.

Get a tube of USC's ICING. 2 part polyester and it is very fine grained. It will go on very smooth and will feather out much easier then regular filler. I use this stuff almost exclusively for exactly what you are doing.

Edit: I was just looking thru Eastwood's sale email and saw this.

Would be worth picking some up and giving it a try...
One more time... For top coat check this out. Eastwood again.

I agree with ^^ and the Eastwood looks like a good buy for sure. On the paint most companies make a good bc cc hot rod satin black so just pick your paint and go. Do not use blitz black though. If you need to go cheap go with Kirker.

I ordered the eastwood filler thanks for the recommendation. I don't have the best autobody suplies stores around here so the paint is gonna be a fight to get.

Give us a step by step when you get the filler. Pics would be excellent! And the Eastwood satin black will work great for what you are doing. Order that to and it will come to your house...

I would use SPI black epoxy. You can get it shipped direct to you. Very durable with a nice finish.

Are you talking about their 2201-1 Matte Black paint?

Also make sure that your sanding block is not to short. for a firewall you should use a 6"-8" block. you may not have a low spot but two high spots. I like the Clausen products, they have 0 shrink.

Just got the filler in today, I will probably tackle this on the weekend. I gotta say eastwood has a fast turn around.

Well I was down and out with some cold last weekend, but I finished the firewall project today. The eastwood glazing puddy worked great. It has a toothpaste consistency and it spread really smooth. It dried quickly and thanks to Fly Doc recommending the sanding boards it came out really flat and I also found out I had a lot un-needed filler on the firewall that I sanded off to get it flat. I completely forgot to take pictures, but the end result came out really well. I appreciate all the help and recommendations. I posted a picture of the firewall in primer in my build thread. I am going to hold off on the final paint until I figure out my electrical and a/c hose routes.
