Heres the story I have been using Hagerty for the last 15 years and really liked their service. Now a few years ago on my modified Camaro they really jacked my price up prior to me selling the car. It wasn't a huge deal but that cars value was half of my current car

Well i just got my Hagerty renewal paperwork and my premium has Tripled that my car is now finished. I have the agreed value at $160k which is far less than what it cost me to build over time. I spoke to them earlier and they said Modified and Custom cars just cost more to insure etc and how my HP of the engine exceeds their limits etc etc. They also told me to beware of Grundy and others how they wont honor a modified car during a claim.

this morning i called Grundy and they gave me a quote of $560 full coverage zero deductible and agreed value of the same. I honestly never had dealings with them and I am worried about switching and getting screwed in a claim.

What can you guys suggest I do? its just principal now because my car was heavily modified prior and Hagerty didn't hike my rates now that i redid the car to a much higher level i feel im getting taking advantage of. I never had issues with my original restored cars just on my modified cars with Hagerty.

Have you tried JC Taylor? They're another classic car insurer.

http://www.ncminsurance.com/tag/corvette-museum-insurance . This is who Im using, ask for Adam Boca. I haven't had any claims and neither of my cars are even close to yours. But, they are agreed upon value and they haven't had a issue with mods. They just wanted pictures and list of modifications.

looks like i may bite the bullet and pay Hagerty. I can not get any customer support from Grundy, JC Taylor etc. I called many times, on hold for extended time and the agents have no clue about the questions i asked about modified cars.

just makes me want to vomit that the insurance on my modified classic will cost more than all of my other cars in the stable. unreal.

i actually had 3 claims with Hagerty over the years for decent issues and they were awesome i guess not its their turn to bite me back.

I ended up with Alex Larue, suggested from the above thread. I had a good experience when discussing my car/situation with him, but I've not had any reason to file any claims...

Sometimes it's worth it to pay more, customer service makes a difference. From my experience Hagerty can't be beat. A friend of mine was hit, while in traffic, and the other car took off, he was out of state, travelling from a national show. He called Hagerty, and there were no issues, they sent him a check for the required repairs, another friend hit the train tracks a little hard, snapped a torsion bar on his B body, they sent a flatbed, and towed it to his house, an hour away..no issues. I've been involved in two hit and runs, with two different insurances companies, and there service didn't even come close, I've since switched to Hagerty.

Two years ago when I contacted Grundy they would not insure me since the Monte was used in competition. Hagerty had no issues. Car is insured until it hit the track. Short time later Grundy is on Gears talking insurance and how they insure all cars until they hit the track. I called them again, "we will not insure you since you use your car in competition." I have Hagerty
