with a early bronco build and a old SWB c10 i wasn't really looking but have been keeping my eyes on craigslist for solid base cars and current pricing for a couple years. Looking on craigslist this one popped up 5 minutes from my house (1973 350/auto). Yep i know it looks like hell. Happened to go look at it and was surprised at how solid it looked under the patchwork outer paint. The trunk floor was solid, floors looked good, quarters weren't bad, only one really spot of rust i could find on the left front fender. Some surface rust that the previous owner had treated a couple times but overall solid.

I have agreed on a price with the owner and should pick it up this next week, crossing my fingers anyways.

Hopefully this is a start of a fun build

Picked up the Camaro today, original owner had it in his back yard the last decade, died left it to his daughter who inherited all his stuff. 350/350 car rust in typical spots: both front fenders BUT... the trunk "looks" solid as well as the floors no real cancer i can see around windows or under the rear window. He did add speakers at some point so some fixing there to do but overall looks pretty solid. the Surface rust will be at least contained here shortly as i ordered some POR-15 rust stopper and some etching primer to sand it down, stop it and seal it. Vacumed all the old leaves out of all the nooks and crannies on the car. Drove the sucker home, Came with a new nose, passenger fender (needs minor work) but much better then the one on it. interior isn't terrible but will replace as needed. going to at least catch up on rust, put some new seals on windows and trunk to keep it from spreading and primer it.

needs a new passenger door or some serious work on it and a new skin on the driver door as well

Because i stumbled across this with a C10 and a old bronco already in the stable my LS dreams have faded a little. We are thinking of doing fairly stout 350's for both possibly 383's with t56's to keep the cost down so i can focus on suspension and brakes for both since thats what my priority is over a million HP initially. Hoping to do as much as humanly possible on these builds myself with friends. I got screwed by a couple shops on my bronco which i am now having to redo which is frustrating.

plan is:

6speed
stout small block till a LS is possible
corvette brakes
mini-tubs
coil overs
tiger cage
black on black on black My son has dubbed this "batman car" so theme will carry.

anyways here it is and yes the fog lights are coming off as fast as humanly possibly, it came with spare bumpers as well. Don't expect a enormously fast build on either of em. Military family two small kids and three projects... yeah going to do my best.

Looks like a good beginning. And any beginning is a great beginning when doing this stuff! :firefire:

the tach doesn't work, blinkers don't work. Didn't try to work the AC on the drive home will try tomorrow. Hoping to weld up some holes and possibly get rid of some surface rust. Hoping to order the sheet metal i think i need hopefully in the next week. interior is "ok" needs some work, has a spare dash, center console, and all associated was in the back seat. got spare lights, nose, bumpers, all kinds of randomness. we'll see.

waiting on some hammers and dollies, been using tools at my friend shops for the bronco and i'm sick of making the trip so i'm trying to buy stuff for the house, along with parts for three builds... and not make my wife furious... its delicate process. Nice thing is the lady who had the camaro gave me a usable front fender just needs some dents massaged. Just got my miller 211 too so once i get some gas i can start having some fun. :gitrdun:
