I have a retro fit hyd roller cam in a sbc. Howard's HRS 110245-12 is the part number. What is the correct fuel pump push rod to use in order to avoid wiping the lobe out?? I see they make roller tip fuel pump rods but what keeps it from just spinning in the bore? I wanna get this right the first time. I will spend the money to have it right. (Not that i have it) I invested $800 in the cam so I can't afford to ruin it.

Thanks!

I used a bronze tip unit from Comp cams on mine.

So far no problems.......

I highly suggest calling Howards and ask! I have used roller cams that called for bronze tips and some regular steel. As you know...getting it wrong will hurt more than the cam, your engine will get trashed.

Your question about the roller rod what keeps it in line is really quite simple. There is a slot in the rod that lines up with the 3/8" tapped hole in the front of the block. Then there is a long set screw with a pin on the end that fits in the rod slot and acts as a guide to keep the rod in line.
