The company I work for does a lot of business with GM & Toyota and at an open-house today at my office I had the chance to speak with a production eng. from GM.
I said to him: When you get back to Detroit, I'd appreciate it if you could tell every exec you meet that they NEED to re-introduce the Camaro.
His response was: "Don't worry, it's already happening, and it is gonna freakin rock!"
The fire in this guys eyes when we started talking about the car was amazing. I really got the sense that this project has a very high priority at GM. He apparently wasn't too thrilled with the GTO and was amazed that I disagreed (I think they nailed it) and he said that the new F-body is going to make the GTO seem like a Cavelier by comparison.

If that's the case, I might as well rack up the miles on my '02 SS!

I've heard some other GM insiders say that we should be pleasantly surprised in another 2 years or so.

 Let's hope it is true, and that it will be an F-Body PLATFORM, not just a Camaro. I would really like to own another generation of Trans Am.

I dunno. The word "Firebird" has such a mullet stigma attached to it with many people, it would have to be quite a departure from what we are used to in order to overcome that. They may do a T/A though, who knows at this point.

I have no knowledge of any car called 'Camaro' being designed at GM.
However....if you've never paid much attention to the North American International Auto Show that's held in Detroit in January, I would pay attention this year. Should be a great show.
You never know what surprises may surface there. :)

I know I'm partial to Trans ams but MULLET!? I think that's the Camaro's stigma (not the 1st gen though) but I'll admit the disco stigma of the T/A

My friend with GMSPO replied that he will not see pics until October in Vegas.
I replied to see if I could get him to let go of any details.
