Wilwood W6A manual conversion, works but brake pedal is hard as a rock, normal?

I have a fully built Mustang and I am using the Wilwood Dual aluminum master cylinder that is correct bore for the original 69 mustang pedal ratio. I am running W6A fronts and rear. Using the WIlwood Prop Valve.

the car stops decent but i plan to change the pads to something more aggressive when i go to the track this Spring.

I bled the entire system 4 times using my Motive Power bleeder and I bled both bleeder screws on each caliper perfect. Running ATE Super blue brake fluid/

I would like a bit more pedal feel and modulation but is this a normal attribute of running a manual race brake system on the street?

driving in the NY area with traffic and road rage drivers makes me very nervous in case of a panic stop. I cant add a power booster as my CAM is too large, not going Hydroboost as i refuse to deal with the headaches and extra plumbing.

So are you looking to get a more firm pedal? If you really want to change the feel, your only real options are change the size of the master cylinder. Using a larger bore master will give you a more firm pedal with less travel. You say the pedal is rock hard, you may need a smaller bore master which will give you more travel. Manual brakes usually do require more pedal travel VS a power setup. Also you need to put more force onto the pedal, around 100 pounds. You can, as you mentioned, change the pads for something that will bite harder and that will have you stopping harder at the same pedal input force

im def swapping pads ASAP, maybe my reservoir is too full ca that cause the pedal to be very hard? it wasn't this bad until i bled the brakes the last time and filled the master up with fluid. my mastery cylinder bore is 7/8 the smallest they offer.

What is the pedal ratio on the brake pedal?

In any case you might just be experiencing manual brakes, which might feel this way if you're used to sensitive power brake setups.

No the reservoir cannot be too full and cause something like this. As long as your reservoir does not drain completely when you push the pedal, you are all good. You can over fill them but the cap should allow fluid to leak out if it was really that bad. Do you have residual pressure valves in the braking system anywhere?

Chances are what happened was you bled the brakes again and actually got all of the air out of the lines. It was softer and spongy before because you were compressing air. Now it is just fluid and you are feeling what it is really like. I am not very familiar with the exact setup that you are running but there are smaller master cylinders out there

The pedal ratio needs to be double checked. I run a 7/8" bore MC with a similar brake system and my pedal effort is very modest...soft even. I have the rod in the upper hole on a GM A-body, which works out to about a 6:1 pedal ratio.
