Has anyone received the "revised" 79-81 LED Firebird Taillights from Digi-Tails and tried installing them yet?
I got mine on 3/4/14 and went to install them this evening... come to find out they relocated the wrong two holes that are NOT used on to mount the panel, in lieu of the two middle holes that are the only ones used.
For those not familiar, the first run of panels had mounting holes off location. My first experience was they sent me two of the same side panel (driver). They promptly sent the passenger side panel. When I went to install (after butchering my perfectly fine and working tail lights) the mounting hole locations are too high, causing the through bolt to be at too sharp an angle to properly mount through the backside of the tail light.
I was told I could "drill" my own holes... however for the $$$ of these parts I do not want to make my "own" holes. The actual hole location resides close to LED location and the copper leads and I shouldn't have to risk interfering with this. A properly located hole would likely interfere here. Essentially, the hole should be designed on the panel, with the copper embedded connection boxing around the hole... which would allow the symmetrical array of LEDs to remain, and also allow through hole space.
Fast forward over 5 months later (this week) they sent me the new panel free of charge, which was great from a customer service standpoint and I appreciate... but they fixed the WRONG holes. Horrible QA (quality assurance) in this regard, they must not even test their own product. I now have no faith that any of the "setup" will work once properly installed (if ever).
I have heard great things in regards their 69 Camaro and Challenger panels... so I am surprised that this is happening. I know mistakes happen, and they have made attempts to rectify them, but enough is enough. And before anyone throws it out there that I may not be "properly" installing them, while everyone makes mistakes, no I am not incompetent :hammer:, and I have followed the installation directions *exactly*.
So as previously stated, anyone else running into this?
If anything... I suppose I feel better having vented this, LOL. :banghead:
