I frequented this site a couple of years ago with dreams and ambitions of building a pro-touring 1st gen camaro. Well I evaluated some things and ended up building a pro touring 68 SWB C-10 with a 5.3L:

And then I build another truck that started out as a 3/4 ton lwb and ended up being a neat little 1/2ton swb shop truck:

And then I decided I needed a tow rig that can haul the family so I build a 97 crew cab chevy. It started out as a 2 wheel drive dually longbed with a 454 and now it lives as a 4 wheel drive (dana 60 front) short bed truck with a 12v cummins/5 speed:

This is my daily driver and I've put about 12k miles on it. I'm finishing up a few things (including a turbo upgrade). Should be around 400HP when I'm done.
At some point in there I had a G8 GT as a daily driver, had 2 kids, moved half way across the country, just finished grad school, bla bla bla. So now that my son is getting old enough to help in the garage (he's 5) and all 4 of us can't fit in the 68 to go cruisin, its time to start building a ride for mama. Since she's into cars (to a point at least) while we were at a few car shows, we looked around for a ride she would like to have. She pretty much decided on a 68 or 69 chevelle. So what mama wants, mama gets (at least in this case). What I'm thinking is basically putting the engine/transmission from a G8 into the chevelle. She wants an auto, so the 6L80E isn't bad, though I was really disappointed in its shifting in stock form....but that can be improved upon. Other than the engine/tranny combo, I'm not sure whats out there and available for the chevelles. So I'll be doing some reading and investigating, and maybe some designing to come up with the car (oh yeah, I'm a mechanical engineer).
