he knows that and is asking if the 69 (behind the license plate location) will work on a 68 with or without mods, that way he can smooth the tail panel or whatever else he had in mind.
i am not sure, but i would guess it would be pretty easy to make work, never compared the hole shape behind the license plate on 68-69, goodluck

You will need to replace the back section of the trunk floor, or fabricate a filler hole cover in a humped shape.

james, im looking into doing the exact opposite. i want the filler cap in the tail panel. i have a good 69 tank that i would swap for a good 68 if interested. this would help us both out during the fab work. may be some other parts swapping to make this work we can help each other out with. let me know.....gene

Gene the tank that I have is the original tank that came with the car. I now the tank I have doesn't leak, although it has had a pinhole repaired. As far as good, this tank would be just for mock up (IMO). I have been looking into the DSE stainless tanks but haven't been able to justify the price just yet. Are you looking for a new 68 tank for the final assembly and use ? I don't have the 69 tank yet, is your tank new? Do you plan on finishing with a stock style tank? Thanks for the reply I am looking forward to hearing back from you.
