First post here, hey all.

The name is Bob, and as you can see from my moniker, I'm in STL.
I've been in the car repair business for 25 years now, so I'm not a noob to turning a wrench, but it's all been for bone stock, factory cars. I don't have a project car, but dream of the day when I can. For now, "time, space, and money" are the items holding me back.

So, if you don't mind, I'll be lurking in the shadows looking at your cool photos getting drool all over my keyboard. I may chime in from time to time and tell ya when you're doing something awesome, but I'll try to keep the stupid questions down to a minimum. ;)

Bob

Welcome. I live in Union. There are several guys in our area. We hit all the major events at Gateway & some of the SCCA events. Maybe we will get a chance to meet. We have been try to get some more support for the autocross the Gateway events.
Thanks Eric

Hey Eric, thanks for the reply.
Back in the late 80's, I used to work for Gateway (I've still got my uniform). Since they did the renovation, I've only been to a few NASCAR events (BUSCH/TRUCK) and one IRL race.
Back then, I didn't pay much attention to the SCCA guys as I was a drag employee. Seems the Porsche guys thought we were all beer drinking neanderthals, and we thought they were all wine drinking cheese eaters. ha ha
(hope I didn't offend anyone there)
But since, I've learned that the art of going fast also helps if you can steer at the same time.

But yea, I've been to gatewaymsp.com and can't find an event date for anything SCCA related. Are there any dates set yet that aren't being posted?

On a side note, a photographer buddy of mine let my son and I into Gateway a few years back to take some pics of a "test and tune" type SCCA event a few years ago.
I gave my very young son my camera and gave him full reign of the shutter. Was a great day, even though my full attention was on my son worring he was going to drop my camera, as opposed to the cool cars on the track.
If anybody is interested, I've can post a link to the thread with pics of a BUNCH of cars he shot. Some may have been you guys?

Here is the link to the SCCA schedule. They looked at me like I had three eye balls when I wheeled in in my Camaro. I have since got to know some of the guys with the SCCA. They have been very helpful & always willing to help, especially the older guys that remember when these cars were new.

Thanks Eric. Lots of photos on that site, that's for sure.
Are there any events with PT cars? I didn't see any there.

I have family in High Ridge. I'm up there all the time, my wife's grandpa works a Faith church in House Springs and I help him out from time to time on electrical projects. Let me know if you need a hand with a build I'm always willing to help and learn new things. May see you around.

That's awesome Tom, thank VERY much for the offer!
Although I don't have my own project car, I'm stuck working on other folks cars for the time being. <sad>

What's the latest with your project?

At the moment I have 8 kids. So its not going good but I'm hope to get some work done on it this summer. I have a mini tub kit and 9 inch that need to be installed and the firewall needs smoothed. Looking for a cheap subframe but with 8 kids money is a little tight. I guess it will get done one day but been slow so far.

We adopted 2 and have 2 and 4 are in care. It stays pretty busy around the house so I don't get to work on the car as much these days. I'll get back on it soon though if you are ever feeling froggy come on down and play.

Maybe you should foster some teenage kids. That way they can help you in the garage, and learn a trade at the same time.
"Win - Win" for everybody! ..... hahaha

I'll keep my eyes open for a Nova suitable subframe!
