Alright so im restoring a 71 camaro.... and im doing an ls1 engine swap and trying to figure out which would be the best transmission to stick in the car. im looking into getting a 5spd but am open to other ideas....main thing im using the car for autocross but plan on having it as a driver too. so the main question which transmissions are going to bolt on and be the easiest to get up and go

T56 from an ls f body would be the most cost efficient way to go it's a 6 speed or buy a tko 600 which is a 5 speed

If you want a 5 spd, the only one I would consider would be the LGT-700 made by Legend. The tko is not a good match to the high revving LS imo due to the fact the tko has a problem with 2-3 shifts at high rpms. Bowler Performance is now a Legend distributor http://bowlertransmissions.com/

I second what Tim just said. You'll be happy with a T56 from an f body or if the budget allows, a new T56 magnum.
