I finally got the fiberglass rear spoiler done, before I paint it I was wondering if there would be any interest to buy them. If not I'll paint this one and not make a mold for awhile.
We'll do a little more fitment and clean up work on it, but this is the jist of it. 6" tall, the back side is curved just like the OEM. Has four 5/16-18 mounting nuts molded in for mounting. It might be wide enough for a '69.
Probably be about $175 each plus shipping. Once we mold it we'll only make a short run of 8-10 pieces.

I'll pull it out this weekend and get some better pics in the daylight if anyone is interested.

I would be interested to see some more photos. After working on trying to adjust mine I'm just not liking the gaps on it and not sure if I want to . Yours seems to sit much better than the normal aftermarket stuff. Count me as interested.

I'd be interested in some additional photos as well, particular from the rear. Count me in as interested as well. Do you think it has enough room to add a 3rd brake light?

Could we see some shots from the side as well as the rear? No third brake light for me though.

Some more pics. Looks a little taller being primer, should tone it down once it's body color.
I'll take it to the molder this week to get him started on it, I have a race coming up so I'll need a new one quickly or I'll have to paint this one.
We extended the back edge to go over the trunk lip, mine's a glass trunk so I'll rivet it to it along that lip, but it can be trimmed off it you don't want to do that.
Mine will be seeing 130+ MPH often, so I'll probably add strut rods down to the valance.

I'll keep you posted when we get a few molded.

Finally got the mold done and first spoiler out of it. It's light and hollow. The mounts are 5/16 inserts pressed into wood and glassed in, we'll make then a little wider on the next ones. This one is painted and going on my car. I'll post installed pics once it's on.
Pics are showing the mold parting line sanded off and the mounting blocks, comes in black gelcoat. I'm not a body guy but with no filler, a light sanding and two passes of primer that's how it turned out just in primer. Not bad at all.
We did extend the back lip to allow attaching to the trunk lip, not required but something I felt it needed for race speeds.

I can put an order in at anytime now that the mold is done, takes about a week or so to work it into his schedule.
If anyone else wants one I'll get a few made up.

How is is it holding up at speed? Is the added downforce noticeable? I'll need one that holds up at 150+!

ho428
05-12-2014, 10:30 AM
I've run about 130-140 with it at Road Atlanta, don't notice any extra drag but I did notice more rear side bite in the corners.
I added the lip on the back to secure it to the trunk lip for more support. Since it's hollow you can also add strut rods down to the tail light panel if needed.

I like it. I want one for our competition 67 and I want one for my 69. Why won't this work on a 69? Can you make one for a 69? And is there a way you could make the one for my 69 and would you be able to make it like 3/4" shorter taken out of the middle section? Because I want the spoiler just a 3/4" shorter but I like the design and height of the top of the spoiler with the middle notch and everything and obviously you can't take 3/4" out of the base of the spoiler because than it wouldn't fit or look right. And I can even send you one of my brand new stock style 69 spoilers to help with the design and too aid in making the mold for it. Let me know and can you please pm me with either your email or phone number so we can discuss this further.

Thanks
Wes

On page one are more pictures, don't have any direct side shots. Car's in the trailer, heading to a race this weekend.

If I'm not mistaken it would be about 1/2-3/4" shorter on a 69 vs a 67-68 due to the wider 69 quarter width.
Maybe someone with more knowledge of 69's could answer that.

We won't be making a new mold specifically for a 69. It's a custom one off design for my 68, since we had to make a mold I thought might as well see if anyone else would want one.
It could be modified for width, but it's not something I could do.

I'm interested. I will take one. Can you put me in line? What is the width of the spoiler? I'm sure my body guy can modify it to make it work on a 69 by making it a little wider using my existing stock spoiler to use as a guide for making it wider to fit my 69. We will get it figured out. When do you think you will have more in stock and how many people are ahead of me?

Thanks

I've gotten several request for these spoilers lately. Nice to see the interest, but I lost the last guy I had making them and haven't been able to find anyone local again. Seems it's a lost craft around here.
I still have the mold and original buck we made, I haven't given up but it's taken a back seat to other projects.
Anyone know of a small shop fiberglass guy in the I-85 Atlanta to Charlotte corridor let me know.
