I need a set of safety wire pliers to safety wire my brake rotors. I was just going to buy a set off of ebay and see that they have 6 inch and nine inch lengths. Any tips on what to get? I doubt I will use the more than a couple of times.

Since I am also an aircraft mechanic I have used a lot of safety wire pliers thru the years. For what you need to do a cheep set would be fine. Most will be 9". 6" are easier to fit in tight spots. I may have an old pair I will sell for $15 shipped. They are 9" in length I believe. LMK if interested.

Thanks for the response. I ordered a set off of ebay earlier tonight. Any tips on wire choice for two piece rotors?

No problem. .032 should be sufficient. Buy a 1 lb spool and practice to get a feel for it. The wires need to be snug but if too tight they can easily break. I have seen it occur in the worst of places.

In 11yrs working on CG helicopters these are the only ones I ever used.
Still prefer them over any mechanical tool.

Do I need to loctite them too or just torque to spec and wire them up?

I would defer to the instructions on the Loctite. I have not used 2pc rotors before so no prior experience. I would think yes, but the manufacturer would be the one to ask for sure.
