considering I would pull the interior, how much is it worth? I just think $19500 is way high.

The guy states the car is perfect, body paint and absoloutly rust free. The interior is what makes me go....Its going to be close to $3K to change the interior.

Too bad I can't get the seller to think that. He has been trying to sell it at that price for a month + and wont budge. He claims he was offered $26K and turned it down...Why do people BS like this?? I agree with you, no options base model car (it doesn't even have Power brakes). What appeal on a collector standpoint does it have? The interior is not the right color for me and I plan to hook it up. I couldn't pay that much...Offer him $12.5K and he was an azz to me.

We can all thank the TV car auctions and related shows. These guys just don't seem to understand what it takes to transform their plain Jane into something nice. To many guys thinking they can drop in an LS and splash some paint and wheels on it and get $60K after spending just a few bucks on it.

Rob, your going about it the right way and when the right deal comes along you can jump on it but it's just a matter of waiting.

If he's got proof of the mileage and the condition of the car is truly clean and still has clean original body panels I would say $15K. I bought a similar mileage RS for $18.5K last year. These cars are hard to find with rust free original quarters on them. There's a plain jane 500 mile car on ebay right now that's already bid up over $30K http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-Camaro-1971-CHEVY-CAMARO-SURVIVOR-W-495-ORIG-MILES-1971-chevy-camaro-survivor-w-495-orig-/161217507453?forcerrptr=true&hash=item25894ff07d&item=161217507453&pt=US_Cars_Trucks

I really like the car, but I'm not a collector. The mileage mean absolutely nothing to me. All I care about is condition...The interior is white/green/and faded brown. I just hope I run across a good ride at which the seller doesn't think its worth a ton of money. Once I put a new interior, a spoiler, some wheels theres a $30K car and we all know what I can get for $30K...A hell of lot nicer car.

While the mileage may not mean anything to you, it does have an effect on the value of the car in the marketplace. I always look for cars with low mileage that are clean simply because it saves money on bodywork in the end. You've got a tight set of parameters you're trying to stay within so be patient and keep looking. Have you ever been to the Pomona Swapmeet? http://www.pomonaswapmeet.com/

Lol no way anyone sane person would offer 26k for a camaro that doesn't have a floor shifter that car is not even worth 8k imho it's a standard nose full bumper and as we all know everyone wants that sweet looking rs look so they'll change that the engine needs to be removed who cares about a low mileage engine that would get smoked by a corolla add a ls swap and it adds up I honestly believe everyone in so Cal thinks their second gen camaro have sky rocketed in price because of all the Super nice pro touring cars everyone wants 10k for a project and 20 plus for a half azzed "restored" car

I take all the $8K 500 mile cars you can find. I wouldn't pay $26K for that car either but there's a much larger market for untouched stock cars than our pro-touring cars. Pro-Touring has grown quite a bit but it's still a niche market.

I'll give you an example: which car brought more money?
71 real small block RS/SS car that was cloned to a big block, 100% original sheetmetal, nicely restored,tko-600 5-spd, lowered stock suspension, stock brakes, 10-bolt, no a/c.

69 RS/SS big block, 700R4, 9 inch, Baer 4 wheel disc, tubular upper and lower arms, power windows and locks, a/c, front runner drive, be cool radiator ....etc.

Nope! The 71 I sold for $40K and I never even advertised it. I had offers constantly the entire time I owned it and could of sold it for more had I taken some of the offers.
The 69 I advertised the heck out of it and sold it for $36K.

I would say $16k is fair. About 2 years ago I sold a standard 71. It was originally green/parchment. I painted it gray, added Z28 stripes, TTII's, and a black interior, mild (not rebuilt) 350. It was a factory 4 speed/AC car though. Nothing exotic or special really, sold it for $21k, no bargaining at all. This red one looks to be a real clean car.

And for the record, not everyone "has" to have the RS nose. My next project after my Mustang is my other 71 Camaro, and it's staying standard. Nothing will get me to change it to an RS. I like the RS nose, but I like the standard bumpers too.

No doubt a clean car...I just can't bite knowing I would need to change the interior. Of course on your car, if the interior is black, a 4 speed car etc...much more appeal IMHO.

What did you pay initially for the car?

I initially bought the car as a roller for $2500, and had most of the parts laying around to finish it, wheels, engine, trans, etc. The bodywork was mostly done, I just double checked it all, and painted it.

Changing the color of the interior should be that bad. ~$400 for seat covers, $160 for carpet, $150 for headliner installed, maybe $250 for door panels.

The car in question has a green dash....I already checked with Summit, about $2500 to change the entire interior
