After spending a couple of years in storage I finally got the Elky in the garage and have started the disassembly. I've got no real time frame, but I hope to have it back on the road by mid to late summer with under carriage and drive train in place and then ready to proceed with the interior and body work.

I'm new to this type forum, but looking forward to exploring it in detail.

My in-laws bought the car almost new and gave it to me several years ago. Home renovation has kept me from starting the project, but I'm happy to say that the time has come.

I've been accumulating parts for some time the anchor of which is a 4 bolt 350 I've been dragging around with me since I was a teenager, yep 35 years! I built it last year and it is on an engine stand ready for the install, but not before the framework is further along.

Welcome. Looks like a very good starting point. What type of mods do you plan are hope to make? Suspension, body, interior? Carbed or fuel injection? I look forward to your progress, my dad had an 81 elky I wanted to modify many years ago but I had already bought my 67 elky from him.

I like all the Elky's, my favorite I think is the 1970, I'm doing the 87 because not only was it free, but it has almost no rust, Florida car, and I already have the 350 sbc and a Tremec T56 gear box. I plan to remove front clip, body from frame and blast and repaint frame. New ford 9inch, 4 link, coil overs front and rear, tubular front uppers and lowers. I'm still debating wheel and tire choices. Not sure what fits without modifying the bed. Any ideas?

If I remember correctly, when Schwartz was doing the chassis for my 86, a 275/35/18 was tight when tucked in the rear tub.

Nice to see another G-body in the mix.

Thanks, that's consistent with others I've read. That Schwartz frame is pretty sweet, I'm sure it makes a huge difference in ride!

A new frame would be nice, but for now I've got to many other goodies in the mix. I plan to either blast the frame myself and perhaps some POR 15, or send it out for powder coating. As always I'm interested in any comment or advise.
