I've searched the threads for an answer, but haven't found one so here goes. I have installed Auto Meter gauges in the Camaro and I'm having a problem with the fuel gauge. When I turn the ignition switch on it reads past full. I've done the following:
1. with the gauge wire disconnected I did a ohm check on the sending unit. It has about 5 gallons in the tank and the ohm reading was 0
2. I did a ohm check on the wire coming from the gauge and it reads 53 ohms
3. I took the wire from the gauge and went to ground and the gauge reads empty
4. I have a ignition activated hot wire going to 12 v on the back of the gauge
ground wire going to ground
sending unit wire going to sig on gauge
the gauge reads full when the key is turned on and disconnecting the sending unit doesn't do anything. (it reads past full with the sending unit disconnected)
Does any body have any suggestions what to look for? Any help would be appreciated
Thanks,
Carl
