well, the car was getting close to done and it dawned on me that this is one car that needs a good stereo! i can't think of anything better than blasting some 70's or 80's rock tune with the t-tops off and hair blowing!

so as everything starts, it was just going to be fairily simple with not alot of time into install and use up some extra amps and speakers i had sitting aound. the main objective is to not cut anything, keep everything stock intact and operating as it should, easily returnable to stock, keep with the theme of the car, and have sound quality the main concern.
my dash unfortunately already was cut for a single din instead of the stock knob type. instead of repairing i decided to keep the single din and picked up a poineer deh 80prs deck. had all the options i was looking for in a high grade audiophile deck with great indash audio options.

the front staging is all focal. a 6.5" in custom door pods, tweets in kick panels, and a 3.5" up in the stock location.
rear fill is a pair of focal 6x9's. i couldn't help but do 6x9's, it is just what these cars should have in the back! haha
subs are pioneer. 2 12" with a 15" passive radiator.
front amp is an older eclipse (still a great piece) i had. 140wx2
rear amp is another older eclipse 130x2 (or 50x4 unbridged)
sub amp is a soundstream rubicon.
audiocontrol eqx eq

the car is almost completely restored and low mile numbers matching car, so it has really been a challenge to get this thing sorted out install wise without cutting up door panels, doors, or dash!

pics-

the obvious first, sound deadener and thick pad throughout, even in trunk.

sub box. the 12's are firing down, and the passive 15" is firing up. i did cut some of the rear deck (had to! ugh) for it to fire through.

i really did not like the black on the door pod at all. i was able to contact pui that makes the repro door panels and seat covers and buy more of the matching vinyl. recovered them in the same material. there is a bit more work to do to have them blend good with the door panel, but there will only be a few screw holes through the lower part of the carpet holding them on. so they can be removed and brush the carpet a little and boom, the door panel will be stock again! it is not nearly as blended as i would like, but placement is good and was not going to cut up brand new door panels.

here is the rear amp rack. acrylic bottoms on amps. still need to wrap the pieces, they will be in the grey material. eqx is mounted in right side, cap and fuses are mounted on left.

finally able to close the trunk and move onto the rest of the interior. luckily i have zero background noise or ignition noise! still missing the front 6.5" right now, but sounds incredible already. can't wait to start tuning and get time alignment set.

looks great. i feel like that thing could time travel by looking at the trunk. I like how you have the opening for the sub on the rear deck.
