4wd 4l60e or 2wd 4l60e

Which 4l60e would you recommend for a 1st gen F body. all I know so far is the 4wd 4l60e is shorter than the 2wd 4l60e. But I'm not sure which one is the best for the install. My buddy said the short doesn't have the ability to except a drive shaft

You should go with a 4l80 much stronger the 4wd 4l60 is only shorter I assume because it doesn't have the transfer case on and doesn't have a tails haft installed once you convert it to 2wd it will be just as long as the other a 4wd tranny must first be converted to 2wd before you can install a tails haft to accept the drives haft your best bet is to go with the 2wd one or 4l80

Thanks for the advice. So are all the 4l80e's the same and any 4l80e work or do they have different lengths like the 4wd and 2wd 4l60e's do?

All 4l80e trans are the same except 2wd and 4wd application and no problem glad I could help
