I figured it was about time for me to post up a build thread. I've had this project since August 2013, but the build progress hasn't been interesting, at least photographically, and took awhile to be interesting at least as much as a build thread is concerned. Quick history is that my dad and I try to build a hot rod every year start to finish. It used to be more casually paced, but we've challenged ourselves more and more, and stepped up our game more with each project. We wanted to find something cool to follow the 71 Chevelle SS we finished last year, and won the Chevy Muscle pick at Goodguy's Del Mar Spring 2013. We build these cars completely by ourselves. The only time the Chevelle left our hands was for alignment. My dad and I do the bodywork, and I do the paintwork and buffing.

We had a blast at this show and wanted to build something out of our normal range to bring to the 2014 Del Mar show. We are primarily GM people, but I've always wanted to try my work on a Mustang coupe. The search began, and mid-August I found and bought this 66 Mustang. It was a solid car and built by a guy about my age (mid-late 20's) who spent near a decade making the car right mechanically, but 1. Got overwhelmed when he realized the extent of the bodywork needed and 2. Was starting a family. So I got this car with a great head start already with a fresh 393 stroker, and T-5 setup with hydraulic clutch. He had all kinds of goodies in boxes already including a fiberglass cowl style hood, Shelby style rear decklid, front 13" Cobra brakes, and enough other parts to push me to leave a deposit on this car. Some parts were used, and some weren't due to change in build direction, or just pure unusable repop parts, but I'll get to that on a step by step basis.

FYI- this blue paint was ROLLED ON, and a huge pain to remove.

The progress is going to go by a lot more rapidly now as Del Mar is 3 months away as I'm typing this. I have the rest of the build set into motion and have it all planned. I'm going to order a set of custom offset American Racing VN427's next week, rears with a deeper offset so I can narrow a 9" I have laying around. Suspension will be simplified for now while I'm focusing on the rest of the car. Stock control arms up front, but I'll add roller lower spring mounts and adjustable strut rods, as well as adding torque boxes and SFC's. I need to research this more and figure out what I can do without breaking the bank since we're not rolling in $$, the most cost effective mods are what I need to figure out. Color has been chosen (for today at least) to be BMW Barbera Red (similar to the Dragon's Blood Red on the Ring Brother's 70 Mustang), with a champagne wide centerstripe in matte, with a red pinstripe. I loved the TMI interior in the 71 Chevelle we did, so I am excited to get a more complete setup for this car. I'm going to talk with them next week, and try and get their complete Sport XR interior they debuted at SEMA last year, as well as their complete modernized door panels and suede 1 piece headliner. All this will be in hopefully a brown bomber jacket type color, with suede inserts, but that will all depend on what colors we can find. The dash will get a Dakota Digital VHX analog setup. I've designed custom one off taillights and am going to learn how to machine them within the next month as well. A Shelby R type valance was planned, but after finding out it will not fit without extensive work, I'm going to modify the stock one to a custom configuration that should look pretty clean and cool I'm hoping.
Well there it is. I have months of photos I'll keep adding over the weekend as I get time, so this will do for the night. Hopefully this build thread is interesting for you guys.

The first step was just general paint stripping and damage repair and get the body straight, and assess any damage. I'm not really a believer in completely blasting or dipping a car as I've known people who have had difficulty getting materials to stick. What we've done for years that works is we just use a dual action sander to get through any bad or unusable layers, which in this case brought the car mostly down to the original white base. This has worked for us in the past, and leaves a good foundation for bodywork to attach.
Damage to the rear tail panel. Didn't look terrible till we compared the old bumper to the new one.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/Mustang009_zps52fa64a7.jpg.html)
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/Mustang014_zps0d3ceb39.jpg.html)
To pull this I simply attached a U-bolt through the tail panel and into a 12" wide heavy steel channel within the trunk to distribute the load. The other end is a come-along attached to... the hitch of a pickup truck. Hey, whatever works!
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/009_zps50ed1dc6.jpg.html)
There was also this random dent behind the driver's door.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/001_zpsf7762ef2.jpg.html)
I was able to pop it out mostly from the inside. After this picture there was more hammer and dolly work and it came out near perfect.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/015_zps3d8229c4.jpg.html)
Another dent next to the lower rear valence.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/019_zps160b6216.jpg.html)
I was able to nailhead the dent out pretty well, but whether it was from the damage, production tolerances, or other factors there was a fairly good sized gap next to the valence.
http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/021_zps0cef6762.jpg.html?sort=3&o=38
I used some 1/8" steel rod and welded this to the 1/4 panel to close the gap. Worked very well, and it fits much better now. 1/8" rod is one of my favorite materials on builds like this.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/053_zps0a06482d.jpg.html)
Paint is starting to come off and I see this is actually a pretty solid car. The car came with a Shelby style trunklid that I assume was one of the daunting tasks the last owner factored into his decision. The fit was abysmal, and took tens of hours of work just to fit.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/023_zpsf583a8f2.jpg.html)
It's hard to see in images, but the side to side gaps were huge. I had to add 1/8" of fiberglass to the edges to remedy this.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/024_zps35494921.jpg.html)
The end caps did not have any mounting provisions, it was just the outer shell. I decided to make my own bosses out of plastic stock I bought from McMaster-Carr. I bolted them up to the car and trial fitted them many times to the contours of the caps until they were close enough to fiberglass onto the caps.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0012_zps3d27b299.jpg.html)
Once I had the end caps done with mounting bosses I was able to bolt them onto the car and in typical fashion, they fit horribly.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0112_zpsbd892fea.jpg.html)
I built up this thickness with fiberglass sheet/resin, then filled the final coat with plastic filler.
Here below you can see the trunklid gaps are much more presentable.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0182_zps0b440904.jpg.html)
You can see the tan length of fiberglass I added to the edges, as well as the general unevenness of the gap through the length.
The end caps are now fitted, and the decklid is starting to look like part of the car.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/027_zpsd291b9b4.jpg.html)

The front end was fitted at this point. The fenders weren't too bad, but the hood needed a lot more work.

Thanks guys! It's starting to come along nicely, a lot of progress these last few days, but that will have to wait till a later post!
For now, onto the next segment. One of the things that always bugged me about these 1st gen Mustangs was the flat quarter panels. It just lacked aggression, and actually looked smaller than the forward flares. I decided to make this car look mean, I needed to widen these flares.
Flat factory flare:
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0044_zps5d8b7764.jpg.html)
I decided the best plan of attack was to slice the flare along the length between the curvature adjacent to the 1/4 panel, and the outer wheel lip. I cut a long length so by pulling it out the effect would be gradual and keep the overall shape of the lip intact.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0084_zpsb0475cf6.jpg.html)
Slice is made and starting to bend it to where I wanted.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/IMG_20131015_203759_057_zps4b48231d.jpg.html)
This is where the flare ended up at. You can see it's fairly substantial, and adds a lot more aggression.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/IMG_20131015_212103_698_zps02cb4770.jpg.html)
The next step took the greatest time, but it was tweaking strips of metal with a ball peen and just bending it till it fit the compound curves properly to be welded up. I did a step/sandwich pattern. I'd do a segment on the front face, then do an overlap on the rear, and so forth, so it will be just as strong as original.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/IMG_20131020_171835_725_zps176ba435.jpg.html)
The final product. I'm not a metal working master by any means, but I was able to get this where it needed a final skim coat of filler.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/IMG_20131027_191056_071_zps0260141f.jpg.html)
I coated the flare with All Metal first, an aluminum based filler that will be more durable, and resistant to shrinkdown. I followed this with a coat of plastic filler for a more proper surface, and it was good to go.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/IMG_20131109_200601_929_zps8f0a4409.jpg.html)
I also took this time to fill the passenger's side lock hole.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/IMG_20131129_133104_143_zps296452dd.jpg.html)
This is with the unusable layers of paint removed, and blocked down. It looks odd and rough, but it has been sanded with a 12" block and is a good flat, strong foundation for my bodywork.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/IMG_20131130_134727_554_zps9a7f9629.jpg.html)
And finally, the first coat of primer!
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/IMG_20131216_225131_471_zpsd712a28f.jpg.html)

Spoiler and decklid finally looks good. Took a lot of work to get it there.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/IMG_20131224_113438_457_zps0c225f99.jpg.html)
The aftermarket fenders fit well overall, but the gaps seemed large and inconsistent.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0522_zps5c3ed342.jpg.html)
The top of the fender to door gap was all wrong as well.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/056_zps4c7c6acc.jpg.html)
I use 1/8" steel rod and weld it onto the edge of the fender, front and back. I then file/grind it up to the gap that I want. Here it is partially filled.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/055_zps5471b9b7.jpg.html)
Hard to see in the pic, but the gap is nice and tight now.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/060_zps01f0b62e.jpg.html)
The driver's side didn't need as much tightening luckily.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/064_zps6f3b103d.jpg.html)
To finish it off I just used filler to blend the door to the fender to ensure the transition is perfectly flat, and smooth.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/068_zpscc6e5e8c.jpg.html)
One of the things I didn't like with the Mustang fender is that there was only 1 lower mounting point. This proved to be difficult with getting a precision gap when this one point allowed the fender to pivot and basically was not rigid. I added a forward tab to positively locate this parallel to the body. Now the fender bolts right on and is in perfect alignment every time.

Thanks for the comments guys! Yeah, on the flares I didn't want something that jumped out as an obvious mod. I think the best mods are the type that you can stare at for 5 minutes and know it looks better, but you can't pinpoint why.
Now for today's installment... now that the doors were fitted to the body, I had to move onto something I wasn't looking forward to, fitting the hood to the fenders. Aside from mishandling and general chips, broken corner, it also didn't fit (seems to be a trend). The top surface of the fender was not inline with the outer edge of the hood, which were actually curled up about 1/4" above the surface of the fender.
Initial appearances were decent...
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/073_zps434238e0.jpg.html)
until you got the the details. It was hard to capture in this image, but the top plane of the fender was actually below the bottom surface of the hood, due to the edges being curled.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/075_zps19a0255d.jpg.html)
Before I could plane the edges down I had to build up more material on the bottom of the hood so I did not sand through completely.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/079_zpsc41c1e70.jpg.html)
It is difficult to see in this next pic, but I'll try anyways. There are multiple layers here. If you look very closely there is a black thin layer at the bottom. This is the original fiberglass of the hood after I sanded it to the fender with 40 grit and a sanding block. Above that is a darker yellow layer which is the fiberglass I added, basically the thickness of the hood once over again.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/097_zpsd944f168.jpg.html)
It took a little bit of finessing, but I finally was able to get this hood pretty presentable for a fiberglass piece.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/107_zpsc9425cec.jpg.html)
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/091_zps1f9c3e61.jpg.html)
At this point I noticed that the outer 6" of the cowl on the RH side sat about 1/4" below the properly adjusted hood, and fender. It would have taken too much filler for my preference, and I didn't see any evidence of any damage to the cowl, so I decided to bring the cowl up to the rest of the body.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/115_zps36f8dd8d.jpg.html)
Just a pie cut through the side, and partially into the front, and some 1/8" welding rod...
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/116_zps4af0042c.jpg.html)
then some weld, and grinding, and it's just like it should be.

Now for some suspension mockup. I needed to figure the stance out somewhat so I could turn the wheels at ride height to verify the offset I needed (the wheels that are on came with the car). I wanted to do the Shelby UCA lowering modification, which I read should get me just under 1" suspension drop. The car sat way too high up front for having dropped springs, so this was step 1. Step 2 entailed cutting 1/3 of a coil to try and dial the stance in a bit more. While I had the spring apart I used this time to remove the rubber lower spring mount pivot, and install roller Dazecars bearings, which just from a static standpoint was well worth it, but more on that later.
The UCA relocation is simply 1" down, and 1/8" rearward. I had this fixture built at work with a piece of scrap 1/4" steel, which made drilling the new holes a breeze. (keep in mind all these pics are for early mockup. I will tear it apart again in a couple weeks for final detail.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/1-8-14012_zpsc2009978.jpg.html)
Here is the LH UCA with the stock position, note how it angled downwards towards the balljoint.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/1-8-14007_zpsb3e35ca3.jpg.html)
I realize now I took a bad pic, but you can kind of see how the arm is more parallel with the ground now.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/1-8-14008_zps34d6d339.jpg.html)
I also took this time to change to a roller lower spring mount. The previous owner had installed new mounts before, and they were solid with no movement at all at the pivots. I don't see how this can properly allow the suspension to do its job. The Dazecars kit was inexpensive, and easy to follow and assemble, with the hardest part only being removing the molded rubber from the pivot. Afterwards the difference was very noticeable. The suspension was more free moving than before, a great improvement for $46.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/1-8-14004_zps0fb53b55.jpg.html)
This image is just me playing around. I did the UCA mod, and wanted to check clearance for new wheels, so I left the spring out gave it the right stance through using a jack. I noticed I could move the wheel inwards 1/2" and gain more space outside, with plenty of space inside. I determined a 17x8" wheel with a 4.5" backspace will be just fine for this. I will order my set of American Racing VN427's this week hopefully. I did cut 1/3 of a coil to adjust the stance more to my liking. You'll see how that looks in my next post, it's about 0.75"-1" higher than I want in the end, but I accounted for not having bumper/valance/headlights, and not being settled up front. Hopefully when it's all together it should settle where I want it to.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/1-8-14003_zpse42e4633.jpg.html)

While I verified the front wheel fitment, I figured I'd make sure a 17x9.5" wheel with a 275/40 will fit out back. Luckily I had a spare set of wheels laying around with just the perfect sizes to check. Too bad they're Corvette wheels, otherwise I like the look! I measured a 17x11" wheel with a 4" backspacing would be the right look for staggered offsets, although I'm building a rearend to match to the wheels.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/IMG_20140105_231930_364_zpsea4f92a8.jpg.html)

Now back to paint prep!
I spend a good bit of time chipping away at the cowl vents to get the 4-5 layers of paint off! Still don't know how to address inside the cowl.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/1-8-14013_zps6cdc0b2b.jpg.html)
Now we're caught up to real time! This is the Mustang as of last night. 2nd coat of primer, which means I'll dry block with an 18" pad once more, then the final coat of primer!

Pics aren't the best, the lighting in the garage doesn't show things off too well. This car hasn't left my garage since I got it, and won't leave until the day I shoot it in a friend's paint booth, so it's about as garage built as you can get!

Now for the future.
I'm pretty sure I've settled on BMW Barberarot (Barbera Red) as I think it looks sinister, and classy.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2014/01/DSC00226-1.jpg
I'm thinking either a matter gray or champagne wide center stripe, with a red pinstripe running over the hood and trunk. Still need to decide those colors.
I want to run a complete TMI Sport XR interior in a dark tan/brown combination, using their new full door panels, and suede headliner as well.
17" VN427's all around.

I'm an Engineer by day, so I took the time to play around with taillight ideas. I wanted something a little more unique. I created 3 concepts.
1. I thought after awhile it looked too flat.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/image001_zpsd986d258.jpg.html)
2. I thought it looked too busy and high tech for how the rest of the car was going to be.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/Mustangtaillights2_zps0ec32ee0.jpg.html)
3. This is what I ended up with. I thought was was clean, while adding some detail and a 3rd dimensional look. I will paint the inner area to match the matte painted tail panel. I'm going to learn CNC machining this weekend, and have these machined (I wish I could say I'd do it, but I'm just learning the process and being there when it's done). I'll use a clear plastic lens material, with a sequential LED board.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/Taillights3_zps34c8c157.jpg.html)

Next up: This weekend the engine is coming out for a full repaint to match the body, as well as cleaning and smoothing of the underhood areas and paint to match the outside as well. I'll also R&R the front suspension, add torque boxes and a DSE SFC kit. I'll measure out for my 9", and bolt on the 13/12" Cobra brakes I have all around. Block the car one more time, prime one more time. Blow the doors and fenders off to clean and paint the jambs. Then reassemble, wetsand, and paint! It's been a lot of work, but the end is near!

Work has been going pretty steady, although I haven't had time to post on here. Countdown to Del Mar is under 2 months!!!!!!
Last step was 2 of 3 coats of primer. Here's a rear shot that I didn't have before. Starting to look nice.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/1-11-14014_zpsefb4a172.jpg.html)
I also wanted to fill the license plate recess up front.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/1-11-14003_zpscd7e6dfe.jpg.html)
My plan was to use the original unusable valance, and use the flats just outside of the license recess, and basically use them on the new valance.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/1-11-14001_zps50940140.jpg.html)
Here are the 2 sections as cut from the old valance, just set into place. This is going to be a pretty easy mod.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/1-11-14004_zpseb4a99ad.jpg.html)
One side is done.

2nd side held up into place.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0026_zpsbef9057b.jpg.html)
2nd side tacked into place.

At this time I also used a local machine shop my day job uses, and stopped by on a Saturday to learn about CNC machining, and get my bezels completed.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/IMG_20140112_105206_157_zps2289190a.jpg.html)

I'm going to finish this by doing a hand brushed finish on the raised portion, with the center recess painted the color of the tail panel. I'll use clear plastic of some sort for the lens, and adapt the larger 67/68 Mustang LED taillights.

It's late, the next photoset of engine bay detailing will take awhile, so I'm just going to post a few pics of goodies arriving. In addition to the parts below, I have a Detroit Speed subframe connector set, Maier Racing shock tower brace, Griffin radiator, and a few other things.
Dakota Digital VHX gauges, awesome set. Can't wait to install it!
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/IMG_20140204_220850_781_zps821adf47.jpg.html)
ET Wheels ACIII's. 17x7 up front, 17x9.5 out back with BFG Comp II's, 215/45 up front, 275/40 out back. I needed at least the rears mounted so I can set them in the body and measure for axles, so I can narrow a 9" I have laying around. These wheels are gorgeous, I can't wait to install them.

Color samples from TMI for the Sport XR interior I'm planning. I'm probably going with the vinyl on the right, with the suede in the middle. It looks way red in this pic, but they are much closer in hue in real life.

Thanks! I wish I had true access to a CNC machine as well. This was a vendor that we use for my work. He said just bring materials, and hang out on a Saturday morning while he did it and he wouldn't even take any money. I'm trying to persuade my work to get our own machines! Someday I'll have my own, I'm building up my tools and equipment as I can afford them.

Thanks! I'm running a bit behind on the updates, but in due time I'll get there. Gonna be a push for Del Mar April 4-6. If all goes well I should be painting it March 1st. Interior is going to be ordered today or tomorrow, going to order axles for the 9" I'm going to narrow. Gonna be tight, no room for slippage.
The fun part is that this will be the first car I've fully built in my garage, only leaving to go into the paint booth.

thanks for the updates and ideas. Commend you on the blocking & sanding. Wish I had that time, space, and patience. Wow, didn't realize TMI would provide samples. Thanks! Instead of the TMI's headliner, look at their one-piece headliner, better yet glance at Mustangstofear one-piece headline. Its my understanding TMI's is pressboard, where MtF is ABS. Keep the pic's coming, please...

The blocking is definitely tedious and a ton of work, but this car will have been blocked 3 times by the time I'm finished, and that's how I do all my cars so I know it will look straight as an arrow.
TMI had no problem shipping me over samples pretty quickly. They didn't have the exact brown I wanted, and given it would have been $400 in upcharges for the door panels and seat covers, I decided to change the theme and go with a simple black Sport XR interior. I did go with the black unisuede headliner though.
Allrighty, time to update again. It's been a while, but that doesn't mean I haven't been busy, quite the contrary. I haven't had 2 back to back days off from the car in a long time. As of today, Del Mar is just over a month away, and the car won't be painted for another week! Going to be tight!
Now the next phase. The previous owner built the 393, and did a spray bomb restoration in the engine bay. Luckily he degreased everything well, I just wanted something a little nicer. I wanted to smooth any imperfections, as well as weld up any holes that weren't needed. I also built a filler panel for the unused battery tray recess. The plan is to finish the bay in the same Barbera Red as the body, but with a matte clearcoat.
Here's the starting point. A little too Ricky Racer for me.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0116_zps190e69ce.jpg.html)
The previous owner built this cheesy filler panel and did a couple stitch welds, this wouldn't do.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0106_zpsc97cb1e4.jpg.html)
Household expanding insulation does NOT belong in a car.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0266_zps60bce032.jpg.html)
The battery tray was rotten, so I will be replacing this. I also found there was a new core support welded onto the car... on top of the original core support flanges! He didn't cut out the original spot welds, but rather cut the core support off from the flanges, and welded on top of that. Luckily the stitch welds weren't that strong, and the core support came out easily enough, and was reusable.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0385_zps0e016d5a.jpg.html)
Every hole in this picture will be filled, except for the accelerator pedal holes. Wiring will be rerouted through the fenderwells.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0406_zpsd99e4178.jpg.html)
All welded up, just a skim coat of filler is needed.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0416_zps1bec6c47.jpg.html)
Original right front apron was properly drilled out.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0045_zps7f518341.jpg.html)
I went with the premium apron through NPD, which wasn't bad overall. The front flanges were a little soft, and I had to hammer some definition into them.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0025_zpsa9521116.jpg.html)
New apron spot welded back into place.

The apron to cowl brackets were cracked, and needed to be replaced as well. This was a simple deal. I went with 2 different suppliers as the 1st supplier didn't have both in stock. I forget which side was which, but the passenger's side dropped in as original, and the driver's side wasn't even close. It took a lot of work with the hammer, vise, and dolly to make it usable.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0085_zps24902c01.jpg.html)

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0324_zpsfc0b2fce.jpg.html)
All welded into place. Welds will be ground smooth. I can't exactly duplicate the spot welds, but this is a restomod, and not a total restoration so it works for me.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0144_zpsaff71cca.jpg.html)

All holes in the firewall and shock towers are welded up at this point. Also hammered some dents out through the spring pockets so they would be as good as new.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0204_zps973a02d2.jpg.html)
Beginning the filler work. It's all just skim coats to smooth things over at this point.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0284_zps04c5b835.jpg.html)
Firewall looks much nicer smooth.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0304_zpsdd9dccbc.jpg.html)
I also built a nicer closeout panel for the battery tray cutout. I used the brake at work to bend it, and trimmed to fit. It will use the spring tower bolts, as well as more bolts around the perimeter, and sandwich under the fender. It is removable so I can hide the MSD and relays behind it.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0374_zpsbb5a3a9c.jpg.html)
Fit to the core support, and pie cut at the front edge to match the downward taper.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0394_zpsd7d47470.jpg.html)
Pie cut is all welded up, and DA'd smooth.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0464_zps2fe4f2c3.jpg.html)
I also knew the tiny downflow radiator was not adequate for our AZ summers, so I bought a Griffin crossflow with a 21"x19" core, the widest I could easily fit.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0344_zps71eb582b.jpg.html)
I had to widen the core support opening, which was easy with it off the car. Luckily it kept a lot of the formed areas intact for strength.

Here's where the tedious block sanding pays. The body is super straight, and the lines are crisp.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/Mustang015_zps62074957.jpg.html)
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/Mustang016_zpsf04dc22b.jpg.html)
Also took the time to line up the headlight buckets and bezels to the fender and hood (headlight doors are down just a hair in this pic, they line up 100%).
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/Mustang017_zps574ba0c8.jpg.html)
Also decided I wanted to weld up the extra holes on the face of the core support as well to clean it up.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/Mustang005_zpsc8b08692.jpg.html)
I had previously welded up the license recess while leaving the main sheetmetal of the valance in place. I kept telling myself that this was the right thing, but when everything was bolted together I did not like the look. The valance seemed too wide for the fenders, which were being pushed out. And the pressure was also forcing the center of the valance down, giving it sort of a chin appearance. This is when I decided to hack the valance down the middle to get it to fit how I wanted. I ended up cutting 1" out of the valance, and 1/4" out of the upper bumper filler to get everything how I wanted.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/Mustang010_zps03baf7e1.jpg.html)
My next modification was to add driving lights to the valance. I knew a hole saw perpendicular to the sheetmetal would not give a properly shaped hole. I then made these pilot tubes so I could cut 2 4" holes parallel to the earth, so when looking from the front, the round lights would be properly oriented in the slant cut openings.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/Mustang023_zps128587ed.jpg.html)
Hole saw was fun to use. It bit hard and jerked the drill around a lot, but it did the job.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/Mustang025_zps667fb1fd.jpg.html)

Since the KC's I used were 4" OD, and I could only get 4" OD tube, I had to slice it open to spread it apart slightly. I did this on the bottom since it would be the least visible.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/Mustang036_zps6f2f745f.jpg.html)

I also did a similar treatment to the rear. I originally had a GT valance planned, but then I thought the GT cutout and bezel took away too much of the area of the back, and broke the flow of paint across the back. I built these lower cutouts based off 3" diameter stainless steel rolled tips from Summit.

The front end is primed, next would be the body and jambs of the car. I don't have the after pics yet, but here is the body going into final primer. This is why blocking is so critical. After these multiple sessions, there is very minor sand through, which means that this car should be super straight when done.

One of the problems I had with the glass decklid was that I pretty much had to slam it, and weatherstrip would only make it worse. I decided I wanted to retrofit a pull-down latch mechanism that turned out to be a pretty simple install, more on that later. I also hated the trunk lock recess as it was terribly cut, and crooked. I glassed the hole shut, and skimmed it with filler.

And that's the update for now. I guess I'm actually caught up! I took Friday off so I could have a 3 day weekend to work on jambing it, as well as installing the torque boxes since they need to be done with the fenders off. I'm slated for the paintbooth March 8th, and a lot's got to happen before that!

Off topic, I have a close friend that lives in Gilbert. I may see myself there some day.

Thanks for the feedback guys! It's getting into the fun part where you start seeing your work come to life. And feel free to copy the exhaust cutout Benjy, not like I'm the first to do it. I can't wait to rerun the exhaust through the tips. I went with the basic Summit brand stainless tips and they are beautiful.
Riles- It's a little nicer down in Gilbert currently than Illinois I imagine. It's a perfect 59 degrees outside right now, no better weather to work on the car!
Just got off a group call with Summit and Moser, and figured out my axle lengths for the 9" I'm narrowing, as if I needed something else to throw into the mix!

As usual, behind with the updates but still working frantically on the car.
Back from the last update: the car is in final primer now. Decklid came off to detail it better throughout.

I started to jamb the trunk bolted up, but then I realized I couldn't get adequate coverage towards the back, and under the back edge, so I took it off. I'll address the rest of the trunk later.

It's hard to tell in the pics, but this color is a real knockout in the sun.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/0301141109_zpsgewwvc3p.jpg.html)
This was also my last opportunity to install the torque boxes as the fenders will go on, and stay on soon. I used the 2 piece boxes from Mustangs Unlimited and they went in fairly well. Took 2 afternoons to do it in, but they are stout.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/3-11-2014010_zps03a7811d.jpg.html)

I also took this time to clean the fenderwells up since the new suspension parts would go on soon. This basically involved removing a lot of baked on/greasy dirt. The pocket under the UCA was full of about a pound of dirt, but it cleaned up nicely, and there is no rust anywhere.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/3-11-2014007_zps2d84368e.jpg.html)
I didn't get too carried away in the fenderwells. Mainly since they weren't too bad, and I didn't want to get it to the point to where I'm paranoid of getting dirt and mud inside. So I wirebrushed and scraped it, and recoated everything with fresh undercoat. This will be a driver, so I don't want to worry about having it spotless underneath.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif (http://s26.photobucket.com/user/blazinred87/media/66%20Mustang/3-11-2014012_zpsff2c6bde.jpg.html)
I also jambed under the hood, in the engine compartment. I wanted to do this in a matte finish to mix things up a little. This was one of the hardest things I've had to spray. The Matrix clear was a great product, but I haven't sprayed a matte clear before, and didn't realize how fast it dried. Painting all these opposing walls such as the back of the shock tower, rear apron, and firewall was super difficult to keep wet. It took 3 tries to get it, and I had to move super fast. I had to designate sacrificial areas to go over later, such as the toeboards. I'll go over them with some thinner and make them look cleaner, not that you'd ever see it though.

A little out of order, but somehow I forgot this pic. Mocking up the rear wheel to get a rearend measurement. I ended up ordering axles for a rearend 3" narrower than stock. My Moser axles will be here Thursday, and I'll get my first attempt at narrowing a rearend.

Masked and ready to shoot. There was minimal sand through of the final primer, so this thing should be nice and straight once it's all said and done! I rented a friend's paintbooth for a Saturday, which is the only time the car has left my garage in 6 months. I did all the shooting.

And that's it for now! I'm currently in the process of colorsanding the body so I can buff it probably Saturday. Then the engine will get detailed and painted to match the future silver stripe that the car will get in a couple weeks. Then I have 3.5 weeks till the Del Mar Goodguy's show! I'll be quite cozy in my garage till then!

Atta baby! Its looking great!
I have very little paint experience but hope to gain more someday and had a question. Most guys I've seen jamb don't mask, theres always a little over spray carried over to the exterior panels. Did you mask since you were doing the matte clear? Does that leave any hard edge on the panel edge that you have to worry about? I think I can see that you remasked all your jambs when you sprayed the exterior? Thanks man! I've enjoyed following along.
Oh and smart thinking with the pilot tubes for the hole saw! Very clever.

Thanks all!
Stephen- regarding the jambs... just as a clarification the engine compartment is the only panel getting matte clear, other than the silver stripes that will come later. And there are different ways of doing the jambs, I've sometimes done them to where the overspray seeps out to the exterior panels. The biggest reason for that is you don't have to mask I guess. I just do a back mask so I have a faint edge that is easily sanded since clearcoat sands tougher than the primer, and I want to minimize extra cleanup on the body. I always like to jamb the car first so that way I can back mask the jambs for final paint, and just focus on the body. Some people try to do the whole car, jambs and body in one shot, but I find it difficult to access the cowl and forward edge of the door with everything in place. I also want to minimize the opening and closing of panels to minimize touching the car, and stirring up dust. I always follow the practice of jambs first though, painting all the panels off the car leads to nice transitions to the door jambs, but if you always run the risk of the paint being off slightly panel to panel, especially with a color such as this (I painted my 75 Pontiac Astre in panels, in white even, and even spraying at the same time, I assembled the car to see slight yellowish variations panel to panel!). And finally, as far as the edges, if I'm painting against a tape line I always backmask. This is where instead of the edge of the tape laying against the painted surface, you flip the tape around and fold it back on top of itself. Hard to describe, but rather than have a sharp edge this allows a fine mist transition. It is very slightly visible, and you can't feel the transition. And by doing this I can focus on ensuring that the exterior surfaces are 100% sprayed how I want to.

Hi Sean, glad you replied. I was meaning to reply to your comments in your other thread. I don't really do customer cars since I'm pushing my limits doing what I do in my HOA neighborhood, but if you need any assistance or guidance I don't mind offering it, since you aren't too far away, and I'm curious how the S15 turns out since I have an S10 as well.
And yup, Walt's Paint and Body is owned by a friend of mine, Apache Trail just East of Signal Butte.

Allrighty. It's been awhile since I've updated this, but not that there hasn't been progress. Quite the contrary. I also started to build my first rearend. I began my taking the measurement of the total width I needed by placing the wheels/tires in the back of the car. I came in at just under 54" to each mounting flange. I then went through Summit/Moser who were very helpful in determining what I needed. I then back solved for the housing dimensions I needed, and had an experienced welder friend of mind weld the new ends on.

Also got caught up on the hood. The underside wasn't even primed. I finished the bodywork, primed, then painted it.

My TMI interior came in the Wednesday before the show. It's definitely an amazing product! I had to enlist the help of a friend to cover these seats, as it was 24 hours before the show, and I had a LOT of stuff to do still.

And here it is on the Friday OF the Del Mar show. I put in a straight 36 hours from Thursday at 6 AM, to Friday at 6 PM before we hit the road. Unfortunately I didn't get to drive it there, we had to trailer it. Being that I didn't get it fired until 5:30 PM Friday, and I've never driven it, I didn't want to risk it. But I did get to drive it in Del Mar, and to the show, so I guess that counts for something.

Inspirational to say the least. Great job! My 66 coupe is in paint as we speak. Massaging the motor with AFR and Compcams. Nothing near the extent and detail of your work, but I absolutely understand the effort you're putting into your coupe. Mine has taken me several years to address all the structural support (subframes & torque boxes, and sheet metal). Getting excited, parts are starting to come in. Keep the updates coming, especially on the interior. I've received my swatches from TMI, SCAT, and Corbeau, but having a difficult time coordinating the mismatched colors. Great work, keep it coming. Ya! its nice to see a coupe in this forum, hopefully I'll be adding mine soon.

Thank you everyone, I appreciate it! It's been a blast, I've always wanted to play with a 1st gen coupe and see what I can do to it. It seems to me that they are underappreciated, and underbuilt typically. Feedback was great at Del Mar, and I had a few different people say that it was the best looking coupe they've seen, which is what I was after.
I haven't taken pics of it, or driven it out after the show because I've been fighting with a vibration issue. I noticed at Del Mar, which was my first time driving it, that I would get a vibration above ~1200 RPM, that would stay for awhile, or as high as I revved it. So I've been playing with that for the last week. Started with trying to find misfires, checking the plugs, wires, etc, which was all good. Ended with my dropping the trans and running it without a clutch. Tried a few things from running the right shouldered pressure plate bolts (last owner used regular grade 8), and losing the weights on the Centerforce clutch, but I was able to test fire it last night and it seems my vibration is gone. I'll button it up Thursday night, so hopefully I can finish getting it fully roadworthy Friday to toy around with it this weekend! Then I'll take some better pics, as well as the interior shots!

I've been meaning to get this thing out for some good pics, but this thing has suddenly become the mechanical project from hell, and hasn't left my garage since Del Mar.
When I was driving it in California I noticed some vibration above 1200 RPM or so. Some trouble shooting led to the Centerforce clutch and other things. I pulled it out once, did some things, and it was better. Pulled the trans a second time and installed some dowel pins I learned the Fords run. Went to start it today to see if I fixed it, and now there's no ignition! It's looking like the MSD box, so I'll see if someone has one I can borrow to troubleshoot. If it is the box and I don't find a mildly used one that will work, I'm going to look towards another setup, not MSD.
This is on top of a brake issue. I plumbed all my lines and and drove around Del Mar for TWO DAYS without issue at all, traffic, stop, go, no issues. The next week after sitting I see a 6" puddle under my brake line at the flare where it goes to the RH front caliper. I tried reflaring 4 times last week, and each time it's a gusher. Tried a new rubber hose and still a gusher. Going to try a new steel line tomorrow and hope that fixes it.
I can thrash on this car and drive it around Del Mar California without issue. It sits in my garage and over the next 3 weeks it falls apart. I'm about at the end of my rope so far, this thing is CURSED.

Did a lot of troubleshooting, and narrowed it down to the factory Ford Duraspark magnetic pickup coil, MSD box is confirmed to be good. So hopefully I'll get it running again tomorrow, and be back to how I was 3 days ago!

Thanks guys! Luckily I did get a new pickup coil brought into the parts store yesterday. Took 10 minutes to put it on, and it fired right up! Now I can install a new brake line and finally bring it to the local cruise nights! Vibration is still there unfortunately. I'm thinking I'll have to pull the trans a THIRD time, and have the flywheel and clutch checked for balance. It's definitely a lot better than before. It used to rattle the dash. Now it's just barely noticeable around 1500 RPM, then it goes away when you rev past. We'll see what RPM's it shows when I drive it this weekend.

Alrighty, time to finally update this thread! I was telling myself to wait until I get good real camera pics and not from my phone, but at this rate who knows when I'll have time. So anyways...
Last progress was that I did trailer the car to the Del Mar Goodguy's show and drove it around town with no issue, aside from a vibration in the driveline. When I got it back home I just had issue after issue. The driveline vibration was fixed after pulling the trans a few too many time. Something fixed it, between losing the weights on the Centerforce clutch, the using proper shoulder bolts, to using the dowel pins the previous owner had not used. I also had a huge brake leak I fought with reflaring a few times. Ended up replacing the steel line and it was fine, so there must have been a crack in the tube. Scary since I did drive it around Del Mar previously with no issue, this massive leak was found the next time I hit the brakes at home! My last problem was a bad pickup coil, no big deal there.
Anyways, Here it is at Del Mar.

Now that it was solid mechanically, I was able to take it for a 4 mile test drive by my house first. That was successful, so I too the 45 minute drive to a weekly show at the Scottsdale Pavillions with a buddy and his 70 Camaro. The car performed flawlessly, and was actually quite a pleasure! It's awesome to get over that hurdle of being a troublesome P.I.T.A. and become a good car!

So now the car is about 95% done. Next step is to remove the seats and carpet again so I can install DSE subframe connectors. Once that's done I can finish the sill plates and kick panels, and stereo wiring to wrap up the interior. Then I have a pull down trunk latch to retrofit, and underhood detail then it's pretty much done!
It's been a fun build, that's for sure. I wanted to take an underappreciated, and underbuilt car and build it to a level not typically seen. The reception on this car in person has been overwhelmingly positive. I've had people who don't normally like early Mustang coupes, let alone Mustangs come to me and say how much they love this one. That's what makes it all worth it to me.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the comments! I'm almost done, I want to post interior pics but it's not 100% together as my intent was to pull the carpet again so I can install my DSE subframe connectors. I've been putting them off for awhile now, as the 110 degree heat, plus welding on my back is kind of... very not appealing to me right now!

Progress has been slow during the hot summer months, but we're starting to see temps under 100 degrees, so I'm gradually working in the garage again. I managed to get the DSE subframe connectors installed, which wasn't a bad job. I'll have pics of that later. Also going back and doing final details on the interior I neglected before to get it done for the initial thrash, stuff like speakers, wiring, glue the carpet down, etc.
My project last night I'm pretty happy with. This trunk always shut kind of hard, and there's no weatherstrip in yet. So I decided to integrate a pull down latch from a 90's Caddy Deville. All in all it wasn't too bad, about 2 hours to get it to the point shown below. The upper latch portion bolted right in. That's it, no work there. The lower one I had to fab an "L" bracket to adapt it to the factory sheetmetal. I got everything working with jumper wires to make sure it all worked, and after some height adjustment and tweaking, all is well! Next is to fabricate a cover to hide the fairly bulky motor, and run and hard wire everything. Not as much a performance mod, but I'll feel a lot better not having to slam this fiberglass decklid all the time. Plus an electric release is nice too!

I know what you mean about wanting the heat to leave! I can only run the A/C in my shop on the weekends so my progress has been pretty slow lately as well.
I like your idea for the trunk latch. My neighbor had a 91 Camaro with a similar system for the rear hatch, it worked pretty well. Just make sure you don't leave a screwdriver under the lid when you go to shut it, it's not easy to get it back out haha

I used to try to work in the garage, but I've realized this year just to... well, not. Haha. I had a portable a/c unit and it didn't do much unless it was in your path. Might try a port a cool next year.
And the Camaro was the same idea, but an entirely different system. It worked well if maintained, and/or rebuilt which I've done, but the Camaro system had complex tracks that would break. The Cadillacs were a self contained motor, that had a simple screw drive on the catch. I'll take some better pics throughout the week as I'm detailing the trunk, the next task. But I've always hated having a nicely done car with fresh weatherstrip, requiring a hard slam to shut. I've appreciated the F-body one even more with the lack of one with the heavy hatch on my 98 T/A, that one takes some velocity to get shut!

Thank you! The car is done, and actually I don't have it anymore! I kind of maxed what I wanted to spend on this coupe, as it was supposed to be a lot more basic before. And I found my dream car 71 Firebird around the same time, and I'm more of a builder than anything, so I was just anxious to get dirty again! But the new owner took it further and where I truly wanted to, and invested another $15k in the suspension and engine, which I was pleased with! The stuff I wanted to do, but I didn't want to have $45k invested in a car that I couldn't really fit all that well in! (6'4")

I came across the wheel order sheet recently. I'll pull out the file and take a look at it this weekend.
