S-10 Oil Pan

Hey guys. I know Pro Touring LSx S-10s aren't exactly a dime a dozen, but that's the long-term project I have in mind. Got a '93 S-10 in great shape cheap, got a complete 4.8/4L60E for cheap, so that's that.

I was planning on putting together a budget Pro Touring build, lowering spindles and springs, tubular control arms, ZQ8 stuff, the usual. I was intending to use the popular H3 Oil Pan kit to drop the engine in... Only to hear that this might be a problem when I decide to go road racing or auto-cross.

Apparently LSx engines are bad for oil starvation during hard cornering? Brief searches show everyone talking about higher pressure and higher-flow pumps, but apparently the bigger problem is the baffling in the oil pan. Does anyone know of an oil pan that will fit my application that has proper baffling for hard cornering? I don't know if a C5 Vette pan will fit without cutting.

Autokraft has a good pan for road racing and should fit pretty well.

Holley also has a new pan that is pretty shallow and also has a weld in baffling system you can buy seperately.

I did the sbc with a road race moroso oil pan route in my s10 and had to do some cutting, the autokraft one looks like it should fit fairly well. As a back up you could also add in an accusump. Its a pump that holds extra oil in it and when your oil pressure gets low it adds in the extra oil as needed and when the pressure comes back up the pump fills back up.There are lots of sizes so I just did a quick list so you can see what Im talking about.

We have done a few S10/Ls swaps, mostly it's pretty straight forward. In the early days, we cut and welded the truck pan and pick-ups. Realistically, this takes a while to do. We have used the Holley Muscle Car swap pan, it fits perfect. Also, the OE LS3 pan fits good too.

Whoops sorry, didn't notice the replies, thanks guys.

I've decided to leave the pan alone, BUT I will use an Accusump as insurance. Looking at the GM muscle car swap pan, this sump super deep, but not very big length/width wise. So FITTING baffles and trap-doors is pretty problematic, there's very little room to do so.

So, I figure that, plus maybe slightly overfilling the sump, will keep it safe.
