Do you remember the Forgotten Fastback (http://www.cjponyparts.com/forgottenfastback.aspx)? It was one of CJ's project cars from earlier in 2013 that, quite frankly, we'd started to forget about again.

We'd gotten a good start on the Forgotten Fastback. After pulling it out of the salvage yard and completely replacing most of the body panels, Bill installed a SSBC Front Disc Brake Conversion Kit (http://www.cjponyparts.com/ssbc-standard-front-disc-brake-conversion-kit-dual-bowl-v8-power-automatic-transmission-1965-1966/p/A12020-V/) plus a new fuel tank (http://www.cjponyparts.com/fuel-tank-with-drain-plug-premium-1965-1968/p/XFT2/) and some of the suspension. However, then it got parked in CJ's showroom as new projects came along and we began to prepare for the new 2015 Mustang. The Forgotten Fastback was even for sale for a short time while it was sitting.

Then, Bill and some other members of the CJ's team spent a few days at SEMA (http://blog.cjponyparts.com/2013/11/cj-pony-parts-at-sema-2013/) and came back with an idea. You see, for us, 2015 commemorates not one, but two important milestones. Not only will we be celebrating the 50th year of the Mustang, but CJ Pony Parts (http://www.cjponyparts.com/) is turning 30 years old in 2015 as well. We couldn't think of a better way to mark these important dates in the Mustang's history and CJ's company history by finishing off the Forgotten Fastback and turning it into a 2014 SEMA show car.

We call it Project 50/30.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYFNpZARwOM

Our goal is pretty simple. We want to display the car at SEMA in the fall of 2014, and we're striving for an invitation to the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational (http://www.optimabatteries.com/en-us/experience/optima-invitational/). This means that Project 50/30 not only has to look amazing, but it also has to perform. With the plans we have underway, we are pretty positive that both looks and performance are going to be perfect on our 1965 Mustang fastback.

We're getting started under the hood. The Project 50/30 Mustang is going to be powered by one of the best Mustang engines ever made--the Coyote 5.0 V8. Our Coyote crate engine from Ford Racing (http://www.cjponyparts.com/ford-racing-crate-engine-5-0-412hp-mustang/p/M6007M50/) makes 412 horsepower straight out of the crate, but when we're done, we fully expect to see a whole lot more.

Many other products are headed into Project 50/30. The project team is working hard to iron out these details and get the parts ordered, but we already know that these products are going to be supplied from many of the different vendors that CJ Pony Parts works with. Project 50/30 is definitely going to be receiving parts from Ridetech Air Suspensions (http://www.cjponyparts.com/ridetech-mustang-air-suspension/c/8_1001_239/), TMI Products (http://www.cjponyparts.com/tmi/c/8_1001_133/), Classic Instruments (http://www.cjponyparts.com/classic-instruments-mustang-gauges/c/8_1001_234/), Rod & Custom Motorsports (http://www.cjponyparts.com/rod-and-custom-motorsports/c/8_1001_212/), plus countless others that will be confirmed as the build progresses.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

Just like the building of the CJ Pony Parts company, and even the design of the Mustang, our Project 50/30 Mustang is going to be a team effort. Bill's taking the lead on the project and he's backed up by Josh from Product Development, who has a great deal of restoration experience himself. However, we've received such an interest from across the company that dozens of CJ Pony Parts employees from the warehouse, sales, customer care, and marketing, plus our president and vice presidents are each going to be lending a hand in order to get this special project car done in time for next year's SEMA.

You can keep up with Project 50/30's progress, too!

The CJ Pony Parts team is going to be keeping you up to date through our blog, numerous video updates on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/cjponyparts), plus on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/cjponyparts), Google Plus (https://plus.google.com/+cjponyparts), Twitter (https://twitter.com/cjponyparts) and Instagram (http://instagram.com/cjponyparts#), where you can see the latest news and progress.

Just a small video(s) update on some of the items we have gotten in to start working on the build. Last I checked they were cutting out the shock towers yesterday as well a few other preparations to start installing the Rod & Custom as well as the Ridetech.

Josh is MIA at the moment as his wife just gave birth to a healthy baby girl yesterday so once he gets back he can lay out some more information on what they have planned in the coming weeks.

While Josh was out having a baby, Bill pulled a 8.8 rear from the yard to tear down and get ready for sand blasting.

After that is finished we went ahead and installed the Rod & Custom setup we will be using for this project.

Please take no offense, but you say '67 and the Stang is of the 65-66 variety.

The car will be cool none-the-less.

Well after a little issue getting the airbags to sit correctly in the front we have the correct brackets and the front bags are now in.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2014/01/_DSC0295_zps56f0570d-1.jpg

Yesterday the old brackets were cut off the axle, and then prepped the axle for the new brackets for the 4-Link system we will be installing.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2014/01/_DSC0298_zpsfa1f273c-1.jpg

We also started working on getting the 4-Link installed

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2014/01/_DSC0300_zps3ca32eea-1.jpg

We also removed the seat platforms (no pictures taken of that) to gain more head and leg room with the new TMI seats and upholstery.

Josh and Bill shot a video for the front and rear suspension yesterday that I will get up as soon as it's ready. Last thing to mention is the actual color has been decided. To tie this into the 50th we are going to go with the Triple Yellow Ford is offering for the new 2015 Mustangs.

Here it's seen on the new 2015 that has been displayed at some of the recent auto shows.

Cool project., love the direction your going in. Its funny, pretty much every Mustang part on my car came from CJ's. Made many trips to Harrisburg during that build. https://www.pro-touring.com/threads/38420-5000-budget-Mustang?highlight=top+20+builds Always a pleasure to deal with your company. My car did make it to the Optima Street Car Invitational in Vegas in 2012, so alot of your products made it there as well. Good luck with the build.

LizardSkin | Ceramic Insulation for Ford Mustang | CJ Pony Parts (http://www.cjponyparts.com/lizard-skin-mustang-insulation/c/8_1001_232/)

For the next update on our Project 50/30 Mustang, we've added some ceramic insulation from Lizard Skin.

Mustang Lizard Skin Sound Control and Gun Kit 4 Gallons | CJ Pony Parts (http://www.cjponyparts.com/lizard-skin-sound-control-and-gun-kit-4-gallons/p/PTSCK/)

Lizard Skin Sound Control is a spray-on automotive sound damping coating that is great for reducing exterior noises and enhancing sound systems for all types of vehicles. Not only does it dampen annoying rattles, vibrations and road noise, but also protects surfaces from starring and rust.

Mustang Lizard Skin Ceramic Insulation and Gun Kit 4 Gallons | CJ Pony Parts (http://www.cjponyparts.com/lizard-skin-ceramic-insulation-and-gun-kit-4-gallons/p/PTCIK-V/)

Lizard Skin Ceramic Insulation is a spray-on thermal insulation for all types of vehicles. Ceramic Insulation is an advanced, water-based composition of a high-grade acrylic binder with ceramic insulation particles which creates a thermal barrier.

Heat entering the interior is reduced by 30 degree Fahrenheit or more which makes for a cooler and more comfortable ride. Encapsulate the entire interior and all appropriate exterior surfaces for maximum thermal protection.

I am going to field this question for Steve. I am the one on the Right of the last video posted. The Valance is factory California Special front valance for a 2010-2012 Mustang. There is some of the factory valance still in place although cut up. The front fenders had to be lengthened at the front to mate up to the valance.

This is a piece that we had originally thought would be great to sell as a kit, but takes fabrication and is not a simple bolt-on.

Here are some fab photos from the body shop.

We have not done a great job updating the build of this car, but it is now finished and has been getting a few miles on it working out any bugs left in it. It has gotten great response at the shows that is has attended. I wanted to post up some shots of the car from a local show in Harrisburg, PA.117592
