Hi. I´m buying vortec setup for my camaro and want to know what parts do i need besides the: gas tank, return lines, crossmember, motor mounts. Do i need something expensive besides those above? Oil pan? The engine is from truck i believe. How hard is it to change ls1 intake to that?
The engine has a automatic transmission with it and pcm and harness. Exhaust manifolds are in place also, just have to fabricate the rest of the exhaust to mach them.
The engine and trans are used 52t mails on them both.

I think the best advice is to start searching and reading posts, lot of info here and LS1Tech.com on 1st Gen Camaros.
I'm no pro with the swaps, just starting mine now. I'm making lots of lists by system.... Electrical, fuel, cooling, etc.
My project is not like yours, I'm going with a LS3 and T56. But here are a few notes:
- you need a swap harness or an education on how to mod one.
- flash computer.
- you should run an aluminum radiator vs old brass/copper. Something about the two metal not playing well together, there a plug you can get for a few bucks to help that.
- electric fans?
- exhaust manifolds may not work w/ steering box. Not positive on this one.
- truck accessories may not clear hood or crossmember. Not positive on this either.
Intake should swap over.
- fuel filter
- gauges
- oil pan, Trans mount, motor mounts
- gas pedal if drive by wire
- hydraulic swap if your going with a stick
Some of these are redundant but you have a lot to make sure you have or you'll be way over budget.
Here are my estimates, I have motor and Trans/clutch. This is for new parts:
- electrical - $1200
- cooling - $ 600
- mounts, exhaust, oil pan, clutch MC, front Acc PS/Alt - $3000
- fuel - $600
Good Luck!

I have full harness with the motor and it should work with that directly, its allready flashed for standalone and need only hook few wires to run. I have allready 16" electric cooling fan on my camaro and new 4 row radiator so cooling is not issue here i think. exhaust can be modified to match my old 2,5" with little mig welding because the motor has exhaust manifolds in it. Fuel tank is new, i´m gonna weld a plate where i can connect intank fuel pump and return line so no need to buy expensive tank for it.
It has alternator allready and no need for ac. So i think i can do this rather cheep...

Something else not mentioned. If you switch to a LS1 (car) intake, the truck accessory drive interferes with the throttle body. I know there is a company that makes a part specifically for this but I can't remember who. If it pops into my head I'll post it.

Buy this tank and fuel pump combo. I bought it and was in my garage in less than 24 hrs. Still in the box haven't installed it but looks awesome!

You'll need a baffle of some sort inside the tank or you'll be dealing with fuel starvation issues. Just dropping an electric pump inside (or external) will not yield great results. Don't skimp on the fuel system or you'll just end up spending more $ later to make it right. You'll also need a fuel pressure regulator- a C5 fuel filter with internal regulator works well. Depending on what gauges you want to run you will need some adapter fittings for the oil pressure & temp sensors. Autometer makes these. If you have a driveshaft it will need to be shortened or a new one can be made. I have had good luck moving the stock turbo 350 or 4spd crossmember back on the stock subframe. With most engine paltes I've used I've been able to line up the front holes in the crossmember to the rear holes in the subframe. Then drill new holes for the rear bolts. Good luck with your swap & post pics along the way

yep, i´m gonna make the baffle out of stainless sheet metal that i have in storage, it has to keep enough fuel in it so in the corners it won´t starve the engine. Its like a square box to hold the fuel in cornering right?. Thats quite easy to make by myself. Only problem is the welding on a used tank :D Just hope that the thing won´t blow in my face :D

Dirty Dingo carries the idler pulley relocation kit for that mod
plus you have to run a 07'-up truck water pump, since the neck is angled away from the tb as compared to the earlier style truck pumps

You can use a retro fit pump from Aeromotive or a Tanks Inc FI tank is very cost effective also
