I'm getting back into working on my car, and since it needs a complete wiring overhaul, I'd like to make a diagram before I start. Does anyone here have experience using Visio to make a wiring diagram? Is there any appreciable difference between the versions? I'd happily pay $150 to save myself a bunch of working time. I like to have a good record of what's been done with my car, so making a proper diagram only makes sense.

Google for a free circuit diagram program. I found one recently but haven't tried it out yet. I'm not home now so I don't remember the name of it.

I've been using a stock wire harness diagram and just used ms paint to retrace all the lines in color.

If you find a good app let us know.

Used to use SmartDraw for other things but I know they have that ability within the program to do Wiring diagrams.

If you prefer Visio over others, checkout their cloud-based offering of it as part of Office365.

There are other free solutions I'd suggest before plopping down the cash to MS though:

Hope that helps and good luck w the wiring documentation.

That lucid chart looks like it'll do the trick for me. Thanks for the suggestion! For what I'll need it for, I have a hard time imagining needing more. I do worry about how fast I'll run into the 60 objects limit on the free version, and personally don't like paying subscription for software. Should be a great place to start at the very least.
