Phoenix V12 Reverse Brake Bleeder causing MORE air??

Just replaced my master cyl and I'm trying to get air out of my brake lines. I got the V12 DIY from Phoenix Systems, the bright red and yellow toy gun looking one.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how this is supposed to work, because, when I press the trigger, it seems like all it wants to do is shove a ****load of air bubbles up from the muzzle end of the gun through the tube that goes into the bleeder valve.

The clear barrel part of the gun also has a HUGE air bubble in it (only half the fluid fills up in that area, the top half is AIR).

The air does travel up to the mc and we can see it bubbling in there when I press the trigger.

Is this normal? Because if so, I don't see how this is ever going to get rid of air in the system. Is anyone familiar with this tool, and if so, what am I doing wrong?

Why don't you try vacuum bleeding instead, may be easier.

Thanks. Tried that too. The gun didn't even want to draw fluid from the caliper. I may try putting silicon around the fittings.

Either air is getting into the system through the fittings or I have a defective product.

Or both.

You'll need to fill/bleed the gun first, which should be covered in the instructions and DVD...do you have those?

Point V12 UP so as to push out as much air as possible. Takes a little maneuvering to get it purged, after that keep gun pointed DOWN, DONT stroke it completely down. And keeping the bottle your pulling from full is critical. I used a drill bit and drilled a hole in a cap of a qt bottle, and installed a piece of brake line in it.
Generally a qt will bleed most 4 wheel disc systems. Now also dont forget that AFTER reverse bleeding let the caliper gravity bleed a few seconds/minutes as the caliper WILL hold few bubbles as its not set up for reverse bleeding, its designed for forward bleeding.
I am on my third Phoenix Injector and this one is the newest and latest as they offered me a free one to use my likeness and my glowing review email I sent. Had this one since 2010 I believe and let me tell you with this, my hydraulic flaring tool and 3/16 line bending tools I get ALL the brake line jobs and try to make them look as stock as possible.
4 to 6 hours and 6 to 8, 72 in lines and some inverted flare unions and a drill and 3/16 drill bit I can reline 95% of cars on road today.
I now have access to the cu-ni-fer line and bulk fittings and hope to order couple for my project cars after taxes come back.
Filed today and they said 21 days or less and Ill have my money.
Guess I need to get to work on some instructional videos of how I do some repairs and mods.

gravity is all the assistance i've ever needed to bleed brakes... didn't even need to pump the pedal when i put LS1 Camaro brakes on my 86 Camaro last spring.. justh ooked the lines up, opened the bleeders, and filled the reservoir..

On a completely new system reverse bleeding makes it simple to completely remove all air from system. gravity bleeding isnt as effective in that respect, but if your just changing hoses and calipers it works ok.
Honestly after bleeding all the air out of any of the Phoenix Injectors it really makes bleeding so easy, lower master cyl level and push, in as few as 5 or ten pumps no air or old fluid. And on systems with line repairs it works so much better as the system is meant to let fluid or air flow backwards. Forwards is at odds with gravity and basic fluid dynamics.
