I really like the idea and look of the truck bed liner on the underside of the body and in the trunk. However I heard a story that many of these products are asphalt based and highly flammable. A friend of mine mentioned a ford Pantera that had caught fire and burned to the ground because he used it on his firewall and floor pans.

Any first hand info appreciated.

I was going to do Lizard Skin on the bottom of my car, it is made for applications like that. That stuff burning makes sense to me but I never have heard about it happening. Use something that is made for what you are doing. Something like that possibly being flammable would turn me away in a second. It is the bottom of your car, something you should never even see

Most bedliner material that I am aware of will melt and then DRIP in a fire!

Ask Sterling Martin about the dripping roll bar padding he experienced in one of his race cars in a fire. Burnt his ass up! That's why they make "Dripless" roll bar padding.

All I can say is read the directions and MSDS on the product you intend to use to find out the information you desire. I am sure it is different for each specific product out there on the market.

I'd just do lizard skin
Pretty sure second skin has a similar product that may be fire rated also
