What is the widest front wheel that fit on a 69 Mustang/Cougar?
I would like to put 18x 9,5" or 10". Is it possible without the DSE aluma frame?
I have the Ridetech suspension and the TCP power rack in boxes waiting for installation.
10 will fit on the rear but an 8 or 9 is going to be about max on the front. With fender lips gone and a few other things I have seen a 275 on the front of these cars. But I have a 245 on the front and a 285 on the rear.

You can fit wider, but you need to modify your spindles and lower the upper arms more to get the geometry back.
Check out page 2 on my build thread to see how I did it for my falcon. My rims have over 6" of backspace.
Mike Maier has 315" on the front of his 65 Mustang using shortened spindles and flares.

On my '67 mustang I have 17x8's in the front with 4.75" of backspacing (Stock fenders, no rubbing). With aftermarket UCA's you could probably fit up to about 5" of BS. 1969's are bigger cars, so you may be able to go bigger - you just have to measure.
I made a plywood "wheel" - really just a disc of plywood - that I bolted up with the jack holding the 'wheel' at ride height and took the needed measurements (straight and L/R lock).

Shortened spindles? I have never heard of that but it sounds good. How reliable is that shortened and welded spindle? Does Mike Maier make and sell these spindles?

Mike doesn't visit the forum very often so you might be waiting for a while to get a response from him. But, I can answer that for you. He can do the modification for you, but it would require either your car being at his shop or you removing the spindles and sending them to him to modify. Not sure on the cost or the turn around time, but if you call him at the shop he can give you pricing and time frame.

With your spindle mod how wide did you get? 265s on 9s?

I am only running 255/40R17. I could go to 275s up front, but I am out of room in the back until I get rid of the leaf springs and I like square setups.
