Hi first time posting and this site is great. I would like to know your opinions. I have a 68 Camaro coupe. Originally a straight 6 car that now has a 350. Its nothing too special, bought it in 1990 and painted it maroon. No rust and body is dead straight with the original black standard interior and rally wheels. Today I dropped off my daily driver off at the mechanic and was driving my Camaro when a guy flagged me down. He was driving in the other direction in his vette and offered me 15K for my car. I'm really attached to my car but was I a complete idiot for not taking it? Im in the SF Bay if that has any reference on car prices. I just never thought the car was worth that much.

Thanks Brian

If you feel bad about it, I will send you a check tonight-LOL
No, sounds like your car is worth every bit of that and probably more. You can get that anytime you want, so drive it until you get tired of it then turn it into 20K if you want. They are better than money in the bank right now IMO.

Thanks I had no idea it was worth that much. I trulely thought it was about maybe 12k on a good day, but I guess I'm a little out of touch. I just figured that I bought the car for 2k 15 years ago and never figured it would catch 15 to 20. But in the same respect I have not been looking at Camaro prices lately

Thanks Brian

Hey Brian,
Them guys always talk big driving by but always back out when they get a closer look...that guy wouldn't have been driving a C5 Z06 would he?

Mine is a completely original '68 327 coupe (not for long muhahaha!) that was previously owned by my grandparents here in the bay area. It had a one of 5 paint combo (pink with black bumblebee stripe, but grandpa put a cheapo Earl Schieb on it because some redneck homophobe dipwad left a threatening note on it). They had multiple offers of twice as much as the Vette dude offered you. It's all about what the market will bear, and in this area, the market will bear a lot.

NO this guy was in a white C5 with the glass top removed. I actually live in Burlingame and was comming from my partents home in Millbrae at the time.
I guess you guys are right, just compated to my little Bro's 55 Chevy truck and my dads original 68 Corvette convertible with only 30k miles, that my car was always the read headed stepchild of the family and not worth anywhere as much as their cars.

Prices of first gen Camaros is out of control. If you have one keep it. If you have four, sell one or two. :)

I bought mine for $700 back in '96. It's worth at least twice that now!

Thanks guys I feel much better, I doubted myself a half an hour after the conversation. I really want to dump the crappy 350 in there now and either do a 327 or a 350 that is closer to 350 to 400 HP. Not to mention I have been looking at a TKO 600 and get rid of my TH400. Just looking at the cars on this site has been giving me tons of ideas and making me want to spend my savings.

You can get a few motors to spin to 6500 RPM. Heads and cam can get you there, but the bottom end should be put together right first.

And my Giants blew another one. I need another beer.

Nice........ Oh I want to kill Benitez, oh well. I guess that it is good that Im aleready drunk. If I decoded everythng ok my 350 micght be a 4 bolt main truck block for the early 70's but I dont know if its any good. The person I bought it off 15years ago said the engine was gone through and solid. Now 15 years, maybe 7k miles later it still blows smoke in the morning, will not really roast the tire from a stand still and run enuoght oil pressure on the free way to blow oil out of the breathers. Damn now I need another drink
